Factory Keyless entry question.

Sorry to have so many questions, but here's another. I got the car a week ago and declined the keyless entry that was in the car because it would cost me 550 over the term of my loan. Car came right out to me though 2 minutes later. I think they just removed the fob from the key ring. Can I get a new fob and get it programmed, bypassing the whole thing or is the alarm really gone from the car? May sound retarded, but dealers are tricky indeed

Not exactly sure, but I think they probably left the alarm in there unprogrammed ..........As I also thought it came standard

Hope this helps....

Later...

Damn, I was so intent on getting the deal my way I never thought to suspect it would be standard and I would be shafted. How would I find out if it was still in there?

I think all you need to do is get a keyless remote. They are generic until programmed to the car. I'm sure you can get one from any Nissan dealer- just tell them you lost yours. To program it, sit in the car with your doors closed and locked. Insert the ignition key all the way and pull it out 6 times. At this point, the hazard lights will flash (you will here a relay from inside). Then hold down the lock button on the remote while pressing the unlock on the door followed by the lock on the door.

$80! That's bs. I can't beleive these guys get away with that. Anyway, I hope it works. It can get a little tricky. Just make sure not to turn the key when you insert it. Just put it straight in and pull it right back out. I think you need to do it fairly fast- within like 5 seconds or so. BTW, what does fob stand for?

Fob, in it's true meaning, is supposed to be anything like a ribbon or chain that's attached to one of those pocket watches.

I guess it just evolved in meaning.

Wish I did, got it last week with 12800 on the odo. Someone traded it in. Took out the floor mats too, but I got my salesman to give me AE mats for free. I'm gonna get a remote, only 10 bones or so, then program it myself. Posuers. They put the Karr system in it when they got it in trade, but I declined that. Too expensive for what it's worth.
