Called for Fuel Cut TSB Appt/ Tire spray question

Well I called to schedule my appointment to get my fuel cut TSB done. I told the guy on the phone that I wanted this done and he said "Is your check engine light on?" I said no. He said something like you shouldn't have that problem if your light isn't on. I said that it doesn't say that in the TSB printout that I have. I told him that I am having problems at low RPMs. He said, "well...we'll take a look at it." This doesn't sound good. I have a feeling that somehow I'm going to get denied like I did at another dealer. What should I plan on before I go in to get the TSB done? My appointment is this coming Wednesday. I also have my Greddy, intake, FSTB, and RSB on the car. I hope they don't try to refuse me service because of those. And I REALLY don't feel like taking them off again. Can't really take off my exhaust anyway. It's just a pain to me to have to keep taking things off and put them back on again.

Any suggestions?

Also, about the tire spray stuff. I heard somewhere that the spray that has the petroleum distillates in it well mess up your tires. Is this true? I noticed that usually only the sprays and some gels have us it. To my knowledge, none of the foams have it, but the foams don't last very long and they don't have a very high gloss like the gels. The reason I'm asking this is that my brother got me a bunch of car care stuff for my bday and He got me the Black Magik Tire Wet, which has petroleum distillates in it.

Well, today is my 21st B-day, so I'm outta here!

Thanks dudes (and you, Ms. Thicknes),

Good luck with MODS!

As long as you can get them to plug in the Consult-II(GameBoy looking device) with the latest software CD, they really can't mess it up.

It tells them what part numbers apply and is really idiot proof. However, some Nissan techs don't have a clue how to use it properly although it tells you step-by-step with menus.

The CEL is NOT required for this TSB to apply. Tell them there is an UPDATE for the ECU software and that it is DEFINITELY a drivability problem.

It took me more than once to get it done.

I think you are trying to explain the silicone problem with those tire products. People claim that tire shine products that contain silicone will make your tires crack, thats all.

Good luck, but even if they ignore your mods, don't count on the update fixing it. Also, they probably WON'T give you the ECM update shown on the TSB, because it has been superseded.

I had the original NTB-018-01 (or whatever) applied to my 2000 SE 5-speed, and it did make a difference under 1800 RPM, not great, but better.

Later I went in for a bad O2 sensor, and they told me they updated my code. The problem ws back, even a little worse.

Many calls and visits were needed to determine that they COULD NOT re-apply the original NTB code, and they tried cleaning out my throttle body, etc, slight improvement, but it still sucked.

It took too much of my time and the car really drove horribly (bucking) at low speed, city/traffic, etc. So I finally traded up to a 2002 suto that didn't have the problem.

2002 owners are starting to complain about fuel cut also it seems..

Again, good luck, keep us posted.
