ACT did not make pedal stiffer?

Well, i got my act in, and it is VERY grabby, i am still breaking it in, so it has not gone under very heavy load yet, but the pedal does not seem any stiffer than OEM. I have read that it can be VERY stiff, whats the deal?

I also have an ACT. The pedal wasn't any stiffer in mine either. So I wouldn't worry about it? Did you install it yourself or take it somewhere???

I too just had my transmission rebuilt and had the ACT clutch installed. My pedal isn't really stiffer either. The clutch engages a lot closer to the floor though. There is also alot of chatter. I can't wait till I hit 500 miles.

I hear a lot of people talking about "chatter" with their clutches...what does that mean?
im guessing some sort of sound?

Since my car was down for three days when I changed the clutch, I didn't notice it feeling stiffer at all. A few months later, I drove a Max with the stock clutch and noticed mine was definitely stiffer.

Its stiff when you first install it after that it gets very soft.

The chatter is almost like if you let the clutch out too soon without giving it enough gas it bogs and shakes. When I engage my ACT clutch it shakes the whole car a little bit. It's like a really strong vibrating feeling.

I just had mine installed today... after aging the parts in my room to a fine vintage of course, and the pedal is very stiff... I can't wait to drive it... I had my nephew pick it up.

I was having fun having my wisdom tooth pulled

Glad to see it is finally installed Chung. . . you should like it a lot.

I noticed that my pedal was a little stiffer than stock. . . It is a lot stiffer than the JWT clutch or the stock 5th gen clutches I have felt recently. All I can say is that when I was in traffic for 2 hours last sunday coming home from our meet in the bay area, my left leg was not doing well at all. . . I need more leg strength.

mine was stiff as all hell until they fixed pedal but its still stiffer than stock

and my car vibrates heavily just like the rest of u...i thought it was cause maxima has a lot of power compared to my friends corolla which barely vibrated when u about to shut off...rounding the 400 mark, hope things go well when i hit the big 5 - 0 - 0

Hmm. I thought mine actually was less stiff than the stock clutch. The other thing is that the engage point is so far UP.Like I can just tap the clutch peddel to shift. I would say its in inch down, if that. I really dont like that. I want it to be close to the ground. Anything i can do about that???

clutch stiffness

Even after about 9K miles my clutch is still about 2 or 3 times stiffer than what the oem was. The engagement point is very high, which, IMHO, is the way it should be.
Going from the ACT to a 2K2 oem sometimes during the same day is a vast difference.
Is there any adjustments that can be made? Why are some pedals stiffer than other???

they adjusted pedal so its less stiff. The guy who did it for me said that it was too stiff and there was no freeplay which was killing my clutch cause it was like i met too early and didn't know, some story like that but now it feels a little stiffer than stock but much better and i've gotten use to it so i'm not complaining

i went to FUNK flex show and smoked so many guys on my way home...i hit 450 miles too...500 is around the corner....

So is this vibrating/clutch chatter on the ACT similar to a slipping worn out clutch chattering? I was thinking of getting an ACT to replace my OEM one when it wears out. To hear that the ACT clutch chatters even when new is disappointing. Does it go away after break-in?

honestly, the stock is a lot smoother and if i could go back, i would probably either stick wit act clutch/stock pressure plate, or all stock. ACT good for racing and meets well, but the ride is not as smooth as stock clutch, atleast not yet for me...still breaking in and learning new things about 5 speed.....
