im bored so though i would post about em.... They are one of only like 5 tires available in stock size and 1 of 2 performance tires, the other being the michilans that are over 200 each. These badboys were 107 each from onlinetires.com. I got em installed at big O for 57 bucks...Discount also carries these tires and will match online prices. I love em... they are actually softer and quieter than stocks but that could be because i had my stocks run down to slicks. anyways these handle amazingly! and are well worth the price..

I had those tires on my SVT they were ok to say the least a bit to noisy for my taste. In my opinion the Nitto 555 are a huge improvement on that tire that's what I have on the MAX now and I have no complaints.

Yes, the Nitto 450s are an excellent dry weather tire, particularly for the money. But they're only so-so in wet weather. However, I doubt they could possibly be worse in wet weather than the OEM Potenzas.

I live in Los Angeles. The only thing wet around here comes out of a faucet. So when it's time to get new tires, I'll probably opt for the 450s as well.

I have seriously been considering the NT 450's for the 17" wheels on my Max. Have any of you driven the car in a REALLY strong rain storm yet? I used to have these tires on my old Honda and I thought they were excellent, but sometimes tires in different sizes act differently . . .

according to what discount tire says that size 450 is a truck tire. Load characteristics are different and might not be a great choice for a Maxima. Hopefully tire god will have the answer.

A rose by any other name . . .

Nitto rates the 450 as a high-performance tire, xtantmaxima. That's good enough for me.

Glad to hear the 450s held up well in the rain, K Pazzo 6. My wife got a set recently in 215/55R16 for her 2K GXE. But it hasn't rained here since she got them. So we really haven't been able to put them to the wet weather test yet.

I had them on my Neon in 205/40-16 and was impressed with the wet performance, but it doesn't rain all that much out here. Good tire life although I did get a myserious bubble in one of the sidewalls that discount tire replaced for free.

i've had my 450's for a year and can't wait to get out of them. It's one of those times when i think you get what you pay for. my next set's gonna be p.sport a/s (if you can hit Merchant Tire they have them buy 3 get 1 free). the 450's just don't impress me at all.

What was it you didn't like about the 450's, Eenis?

we have been having hardcore monsoon storms lately and had one with a full inch of rain last night... Tires performed EXCELLENT on the freeway... i was able to cruise at about 70 with no worry of hydroplaning or losing control.. As for noise they are no different than the potenzas but i notice with the window down ripping around turns you can hear the tires gripping....

i don't think they grip enough. so long as you're going in a straight line they're fine but beyond not they're doo doo. i've lost traction in a good number of corners that I shouldn't have. the sprinklers around the corner from my crib spray a lil into the street and i lost front traction almost every time i hit the overspray. in the rain they're decent...get me from point a to point b but sometimes gettin there ain't the smoothest ride. can't compare them to the re92's cuz when i got the ride used they needed to be replaced but the way i see it ain't nowhere to go but up.

their site is www.merchantstire.com. the spot i went to is in charlotte, but i think they're kinda east-coast. they don't promote on their site but if you call they should say it's buy 3 get 1 free till 8/2. guy i talked to said they have it round most holidays, so it'd be labor day and new year's as the next 2 (didn't mention thanxgiving).

I suspect not having the stock Potenza RE-92s to compare them to is part of the problem. From everything I've read, the Nitto 450s are definitely a step up compared to the Potenzas and they last a lot longer too.

true.....it's my first set of tires but i'm lookin at what i've had and how it's performed to get my info. and having less of a performance tire in the past has slanted my view. maybe i was expecting too much but i ain't much for having to take extra caution in a turn cuz a sprinkler's sprayin a lil in the street....that's friggen insane (can i say friggen here or is that a bad word).
