I will start off by saying I did not get it!!!,Now the story goes as followed,Yeasterday I call on the Infiniti I30T which was a very rare 5 SPD with 69 K with all the goodies for $11,800,so I made a appointment to make the 2 1/2 hour drive yesterday to pick the car up today and the lady said no problem we will hold the car for you,so today around 2 O'Clock she called me up to make sure I was still coming and I said yes I am on way right now and she said she would make sure she would hold it for me,so I went to the bank and pulled out $12,000 cash and met up with my father at work and drove 2 1/2 hours to the dealer ship,so I get there all exited ready to buy the car of my dreams and I ask for Clair the Saleswomen and the sales men who I was talking to said she just steped out and he would get someone else to show me the car,so now this other sales guy comes out to show me the car so we walk out side to see the car for the first time and right off the bat he makes a couple of lies saying we just got the car in a few days a go which the other dealer said it was sitting around for a month, anyways I am fallowing him to see the car and yep you guessed it he could not find it !!!!So he go's inside for a couple of minutes and comes back out a says sorry we just sold it a half hour a go !!!!{Son of a *****!!!!},so I am like WTF!!! I just draged my dad from his busy schedule and took a 2 1/2 road trip and was lied to by this Bit**!! saying she was holding it for me and that she did not want me to come all the way out there unless she had it.So I was about to kill someone at this point,so then the dealer trys selling me a over priced 98MAX so I said FU** This and left, bottom line hear is this is the most scrued up experience I have ever had before and by far the biggest let down of my life, also I don't dowt the fact that the car never even existed and they just lied to me all along which my dad calls the bait and Catch technique {or something}.Ohh well I guess I will get over it but until then I am going to be very pissed off. Thanks for lisening to me whine and feel free to comment,One other thing do not ever go to the Kiaa Dealer ship in Portsmouth N.H. THERE ALL SCUMBAGS !!!!

That sux, sorry to hear that. I was in a similar situation when i was shopping for my max. They said the car was sold just before I came, and started showing me other maximas. I didn't say anything, just turned around and left. That happened in Quirk Nissan at Braintree MA.
Will never go there agian.

Kinda off the topic thread, but why are Nissan dealers also Kia dealers. It's like that at Forst Nissan in Newton, MA. The service guys tell me that those Kia's are the biggest pieces of poo-diddy. BTW, you would be surprised how much more maxima enthusiasts know than car sales people.

Hehe, it is funny. Back in 1998 when my dad and I were test-driving the Max, the guy said to go easy on the gas pedal because it's a 3000GT engine. I was thinking to myself, "wtf is he talking about." I think he was just trying to make the Max sound like a crazy monster machine that snaps your neck when you lightly press the gas pedal.

If they said they would hold it for you, it was already "sold". If you can prove that this lady said that, you may be able to get something out of the dealership, if you know what I mean. I would.

I'm also sorry to hear this. I really know how you feel becaus I have experienced something simular. I actually went to a dealer in Queens NY and put down more than 1/2 for a 96 Maxima Beautiful Sparling Blue It was a GXE but it was Nice. I went back the next day to pick it up and the salesperson tells me the bank took it back because they didn't have the title on premise. I wanted to really hurt that man and he knew it. He took me to another ownership and they didn't have anything that would compare to this car. I actually dreamed of the car the night b4. So I made him go to the bank and give me my money back. I looked around for about 2hrs and found My Current Max for 2years a GLE fully loaded Green for the same price. It worked out a little better except for the color. Dont be discouraged.

Frost Nissan in Newton is a very expensive dealership. I was shopping there too. They had only GLE and SE maximas and only with leather. I asked the salesman if they have GXE or SE w/o leather and he said we carry only the best cars. I was like ok whatever. Almost all there cars were $20K and above.

Sorry to here it bro. After reading the Cefiro post I saw how excited you were about the car. I also had the same experience with a Nissan dealer around 1 year ago.

I went to Agincourt Nissan in Scarbourgh, Ontario. This guy said that he had a brand new never driven '98 GLE on there lot for around $25 grand(canadian). The sales guy made me wait 2 hours while he was talking on the phone with there other Nissan dealership. When we went to the lot the car ended up being a GXE that was stripped apart and had these SMX stickers on it. The entire dash was missing as well as the power window buttons. I asked the salesman why everything was missing and he told me that they used the car for parts and that if I buy the car, he would put everything back together. The salesman thought I was an complete idiot which made me so mad. At that point I was so pissed off that my dad and I left. A few days later, the salesman(jerk) had the nerve to call my house and ask if we were still interested. That's when I gave him hell and hung up on his @ss.

Re: Hey Nick

I wouldn't be surprised that a dealership in Newton only sells expensive cars. They treat me pretty good in service though. Plus I get to go stare at the Ferrari's across the street.

I feel your anger...

Before I bought my 99' I30, I had hunted down 2 99' I30's in the SoCal area with manual tranny's. Let me tell you, the first I30 was white (dealer in Tustin), going for $22K with 30K miles. I was driving to the dealer when I see a white I30 pull out when I go to park. I ask for the salesmen, Mark, the Sales Manager said he left for home already. I go to his desk and see him hiding, WTF is that?!?! He tells me that someone else had sold the car and couldn't do anything about it. Well why did he PROMISE that he would hold the damn thing? Oh well, off to the next car...Anyway, the second time was in Thousand Oaks, a nice black I30 with only 38K for $24K, right when I get there the sales person tells me he sold the car for $25K....WTF?!? How discouraging!!! Anyway, after having cash in a brief case for over 2 weeks, I finally called it quits. On my way back, I saw a nice black I30 at a Lincoln dealer. Pulled in, test drove it, only 11K miles, asked for 21K and walked away with it...happy as can be from then...

Sorry to hear the story....it happens too often...it's definitely a salesmen thing...

Sounds like when I went to go buy the 3rd gen I was looking at. I drove across downtown LA during rush hour, the wife and I arrived 2 hours later and the car was an automatic tranny. Boy that was a fun drive back home, let me tell you.

Bummer, but life is long. You'll have experiences that are more frustrating than that. Cash moves everything around y'all, there's no reason for them to hold the car if someone else is there and wants to buy it. But doesn't mean you can't bend the saleslady's ear a bit.

Hey I went there too. Back in the old days when I was dense--seriously I wasn't sure if they offered discounts on Maximas or sold them at list--(I'd learn to get that 6400 off list on a 98) I tested a 1995 SE 5-speed. It had, yes, 63,000 on it and was only 24 months old. They wanted $16,500 for it, no Bose or leather. I remember the mgr and sales guy ganging up on me, finally I JUST SAID NO.

Then a week later they lowered the price by 1800, threw in an extended warranty and I said no way, I'm not risking a broken timing belt. Then the dude said it has chains and microfinished pistons. I said no way. Man was I naive back then. Was blue with roof and tan seats. Heck of a test drive though cause I only had 125 hp back then.

Dealers suck donkey ****. They always look to sell you what you do not want, just what makes the most profit to them.

Yeah, the I30 Touring (I30t) was available w/ 5-speed tranny from 96-99... or was it 95-99? Anyway, that run of years... stopped offering the manual in '00.

ahhh, thanks man...
I didn't know that cause all the infiniti I30's I ever saw only had the autos in them--so I figured it was ONLY in auto...well, live and learn.

damn thats ****ed up

You know what you have to do now right?
Call the sales woman you talked to and give her an ear full... thats messed up forreal
But I am almost positive that nearly 90% of the dealerships who say they will hold the car for you, never will do so... they are stingy bastards who will attempt to sell it for a higher price then the one you would offer regardless if you are half way to the dealership, if a better offer comes in the way and they can make an extra 500$, they probably will go with it and make up some dumb excuse,
u can't trust these bastards, they will screw u, sorry to hear what happened, hopefully u'll find the thing u are looking for

Man, I'm sorry to hear that! I'd be pretty upset if that had happened to me. I'd be kickin and screamin at that damn sales person...especially if I had to drive that long just to get there. :

emax95 - car dealers are SNAKES! and unfortunately, unless you had left a deposit, the above idea is out the window. Also, your Dad is right, the "Bait and Switch" is what I think you were talking about. They pulled a fast one on you. No problems, they didn't get a dime out of you! I fell in love with a 95 SHO when I was buying cars last and the same thing happened. But I ended up with the beautiful machine parked outside my office now, so I'm happy. Like Jerry Seinfeld says, It will all even out in the end!
