Shocks, springs or coilovers......which ones?

I was just wanting to know if I was to lower my car would I need new shocks and springs or either of them? I also was wondering about coilovers and if they are made for the 3rd gen. Maximas?

It is recommended that you get new struts if the old ones are original because it's more than likely they will be worn out with lowering springs.

will need new struts when dropped

the best performance combination would be eibach springs (1.25" drop) and koni struts. however, if the konis are too steep for you, you can go with tokico blues. if you plan to drop, you should get performance struts b/c stock ones (especially old ones) will last you no longer than 6 months...

I got the KYBs, but I dont plan on them lasting forever. I just got them to hold me over till I wanna get some Toks or even Konis. So far, the KYBs are a 100% better change over stock.

I have eibach springs and tokico blues and I'm happy. All I need now is rims. I have some pics of my car on my homepage and you can use them as referecne of how much of a drop the eibach springs give.

i was joking. it looked like he was asking if he needed new shocks or springs or either of them...of course you need new shocks and springs, you can't just push it down and hope it stays.

DROP CAR

I have the kyb"s and their lifetime guarantee. So if they go bad, i"ll just get them replace for free. They also cost alot less then the other brands. Just my 2 cents.

I've got Tokico's on my GXE, and after a year of driving, they have softened. When I do my SE, I will put on Koni.

i have to formally disagree with you and chris. i feel that eibach are not the best out there. progressive springs (although people love them for their ride) in my opinion, don't give the car predictable handleing characteristics. Personally i think they're sloppier than a linear spring. that's also just my taste. i've noticed that with a linear spring, you need more dampening in order to control bounce, but you get less slop on transitions than progressive. hey, just my opinion. . . .
