Awesome race, me VS a freinds GT40 equipped Mustang

My friend has a 95 mustang GT with a GT40 crait motor in it, he has a full exhaust, gears, pulleys, drive shaft, MSD etc. He ran a 13.6 at 104 MPH a few weeks back.

Anyhow last time we raced I did not have my Y-pipe or UDP on and his stang stomped me in the top end.

On the way to our race spot my friend raced a new corvette and the stang actual pulled about half a car on him from about 60-100 MPH.

"The race" We lined up and counted to 3 and we both took off. My friend in the stang did a big burn out and I pulled about a car on him by 40 MPH. We kept going up until 100 MPH and I kept my 1 car lead

The second race we both took off side by side, he shifted to second and I pulled a nose on him, then I shifted to 2nd and we evened out. At 50 MPH he went into 3rd and I pulled a nose lenght on him. Once I shifted to 3rd gear he started to pull away from me slowly at 80 MPH he shifted to 4th and I starterd to gain on him a little bit, then at 90 MPH I went to 4th and he got his 1 car lead back. So from 0-100 MPH he only pulled one car on me! Not bad at all considering how quick this guys stang is, before my Y-pipe and UDP he would easaly pull two car lengths on me. All I need now is a better intake manifold and I should be side to side with my buddys stang. It was a great race!

Ohh yeah some punk in a 330i messed with us while we where driving around, I was riding his **** and I had to let off the gas a few times. A lane opened up for a second and I was pulling on him nice, then my exit came so I had to pull off.

Ethan,

Do you think if your max was RWD you'd be able to beat him consistantly off the line? I know he has RWD but he also has alot more torque to the wheels, so is your car actually easier to launch despite the FWD? Have you driven his stang? What are your thoughts on it?

If you can keep up with him with those mods you are a very good racer. Man the VQ is beautiful...get to the damn track, I wouldn't be surprised if you made it into the 13's with ease.

I have been contemplating on going to the track again soon, it's such a PITA to go though, it takes up my whole day. Ireally want to get up there and bust into the 13's. If my car was RWD I think me and the stang would be about dead even to 100 MPH. I drove his car before and the clutch is extremly hard to work, your really have to push down on it hard or else it will just snap up on you. When my friend took his car to the track he got 2.0 60's consistantly so I think he can launch his car a little better then me(on the track anways ).

Good race. I like these kinds of races because they are very scientific. No sarcasm intended, i'm serious.

You should make a whole pulley set for the maxima (Water pump, AC, crank and PS) I would buy them!

You can borrow my crank pulley if you want You can probably get the other pulleys from a junkyard, like $50 each. BTW I have a extra idler pulley if you want to do that too.

Please invest in a camcorder, you were one of the ones that was upset at a movie we made!!!People like myself and others love to watch clips. And if you got a camcorder my bad, but next time send the footage to sprint productions and it will get posted!!!

we would like to see footage, specially since it was your friend and that is good footage right there.

If you guys hit 14s now I cant even imagine what a blower would do for you 2k2 guys. Kloogy probably dreams of a blower in his engine bay at night

You just can't get enough of racing this guy, ehhhh

Is he running 13.4s@104 on drag tires or the stock tires? Why did he buy a GT40 "crate" motor. He could have bought the GT40 heads, manifold, and cam for a lot less Why he went with GT40 is beyond me because there's better stuff out there that's cheaper.

Sounds like you guys are closely matched. The only real way to tell how close you guys are is goig to the track. I've beaten many 13-second cars on the street from a roll and stop. In street racing, reaction time is everything. A .5 second jump, which is nearly impossible to gauge with the human eye, means that 14.5 second car and easily take a huge lead on a 14.0 second car.

He bought the whole motor becuase his original 5.0 motor died, it started burning oil really bad and then it bit the dust I think the motor was like 3G's..

BTW he ran a 13.6 on stock tires, he tried slicks but he said his rear end felt like it was on ice half way down the track

Sorry Ewok. In light of the recent unfortunate misfortune involving another member, we are trying to tone done the street racing stories.

But because we all like you bro, I'll just lock it and not delete it(like I usually do)

I'll probably catch hell from the other guys that get the racing stories deleted but we can all agree Ethan does alot for us and deserves a little leeway.
