What important decision.

Plus this has been discussed to death. Do a search but if you want the cliff notes. 3gens have a superior supension. Search will reveal the details why

O no, here we again. Please just search on this, and go drive both of the setups for the sake of this forum. I feel a 3rd. vs. 4th gen war coming again.

Food for thought

An independant suspension is better than a beam, any day. Having said that, the beam on the Maxima is very good, probably better than what most drivers could ever push their car to do.

Plus, on a more practical note, the beam suspension also contributes to why the 4th gen is quite a bit bigger on the inside than the 3rd gen, and the trunk is very generous, too I've got relatives from overseas who visit often and really make me appreciate that aspect at the airport

4th Gen is WAY better...

J/K We all know an IRS is better. Although it still perplexes me why Civics with them use tie rods and such to make it seem like a beam?

B/c the IRS is only better in a certain set of circumstances, and for the vast majority of drivers in the vast majority of situations (especially with a FF car), the beam will work better. this does not mean for your serious autox'er or track lapper or anything. But for most drivers just carving some turns, the beam will keep the rear more stable and controllable to most drivers...

I'm speaking in vast generalities...
