We're going to be hard pressed to beat any 7G Accord V6 or Acura TL with this setup (albeit a rare setup).

True. However, the V6 will catch the 4cyl in aftermarket support within a couple of years. There's already a supercharger (centrifugal) from Paxton (via Comptech) for the J-series Honda motors (Accord/CL/TL/MDX/Odyssee/Pilot) with a Roots-eaton style SC on the way from Jackson Racing. Not to mention, there's a pretty sizeable availability of pulleys, cam gears, cold air intakes, performance exhausts, and electronics for the V6 Accord

I saw u drove by when I walked out Ranch 99. How are those OZ F1? I was thinking about gettting the superleggera.
Re: Re: Re: Re: GASP!!New accord with 240hp!!!
They are the most beautiful wheels i ever bought and after 2 years it still looks new. The main thing it is WHITE, so it contrasts real well with the car. But its heavy as hell, i weighted it with tires once and i think it was 53-55ibds!! Get the superleggras, if u are more performance oriented.

As having owned a v6accord, up until last May and visitng Av6.com every day. The v6 Accord doesn't have that great of aftermarket support either. Everyone either had one of two now three intakes (AEM, Injen, and now Comptech), a few exhausts, and one header (comptech, but more on the way). Also for the dyno sheets I have seen for the comptect supercharger were very dissapointing, the one sheet I saw was 205 to the wheel. They have alot more cosmetic stuff for the car but lack performance parts like us. I for one like our aftermarket better, because it is more performance oriented, where alot of theirs is cosmetic.

Dont worry Max owners, we havent been surpassed yet. Even the Altima is dud if you ask me. (Not that anyone has, but I have driven a 3.5 5sp) Altima, Accord and Camry are designed for the masses. You can put as much power as you want in them. It doesnt make them as fulfilling as the Maxima (a niche car).
The real question now is..
Will Honda offer a manual with their V6 ? Chances are they wont as they wont want it to compete with the TL and CL manual V6's (Or so I imagine)
If they offer only an automatic, we manual Max owners have nothing to worry about.. Ive driven some of the V6 auto Accords and they are God slow to downshift.. Nice torque though..
My bet is we will still whIP their ***** .

Dayum..if only the Accord had the "Nissan" and "Maxima" we'd love it.
btw, to those who say Honda will never be performance-minded, I recall such cars as the S2000, Acura NSX, Prelude, Integra Type R, and the RSX-S. Additionally, I don't remember Nissan making any motorcycles.

And the V-6 accord coupe will be offered with a 6 speed manual. I would be surprised ff they put it on the sedan.
And I will put my 5-speed 222hp Maxima up against the 5-speed 240hp Altima any day. The Altima just doesnt pull as hard off the line (at least the one I drove didnt.) I would suspect the same for the 6-speed accord. Not that I really care...

And if you'll do a search on "timeslip" on both forums, you'll also see nearly identical numbers and trap speeds: low- to mid-14s @ 95 to 98 mph for the manual trannies; high-14s to low-15s @ 92 to 95 mph for the automatics. What all this means is that if you think an '02 6-speed Maxima will hand you your rear, an '02 5-speed 3.5 will do so as well. In terms of acceleration, they're ***-for-tat. (What sap blocked out the word "t-i-t" in this context?)
Just FYI. I hate to see misinformed people spreading misinformation. As for the rest of your post, well, we all have our personal preferences. Diversity makes the world turn.

Accord (2.4ltr/4cyl= 150HP.
Civic(EX)= 115hp
Hmmm sounds nice if you can make it work and it's been done.
Don't forget Accord EX's have V-Tec!
You gotta have V-tec; it's god's gift to the automotive industry!

I ran a 3.5 SE Auto Altima in my 5spd Maxima, lets just say he saw my tail lights pretty damn well.
My Max ran stock 14.8 at 94.6mph, and I ran that Altima stock.

Do some careful reading and compare your results. What you'll find is that as a general rule, a stock '02 Maxima and stock '02 3.5 put down the same horsepower to the ground: 200 to 205 for the manual transmissions, 190 to 195 for the automatics, give or take two or three horsepower.

I have driven both. Every test I have seen puts the Altima in the mid 14s. I have tested my car 15.0. Not an overwhelming difference.
I am really not into numbers, or racing for that matter, I just meant that it didnt feel all that hard from a standing start.
I know what you mean by misinformed. My cousin owns an Alt SE 5sp, and he is under the impression anything shy of a Corvette is out of his league.
And as for my feelings on the TL, I am not the only person I know who thinks Honda should have put a little more road noise and bump into the cabin of something tagged Type S. Technology is great, dont get me wrong, but I still like to feel what's going on under me, even cruising on the expressway. The TL the Accord and the Altima dont do this.
Exactly why I love my Maxima!
I just thought of another reason why the altima maybe didnt feel as strong. I am used the fast action the maxima clutch has. The altima slips more towards the top of throw like other cars. I wasnt used to that.

Fortunately for Russ, no matter whether he's driving a Maxima, Accord CL-S or I assume even a Prada, his combination Ayrton-Senna-John-Force driving skills preclude him from falling behind any one-, two-, three-, or four-wheeled device ever produced by mankind. Impressive, no?

I assume you mean he's out there challenging LT1 Camaros every chance he gets. Yes, we do have more than our share of those. I take no responsibility for them. For more than a few folks, once you get that new car home -- whatever it is -- it becomes, as one of you kind folks coined the term, God's Chariot while all other vehicles on the road become piggish, slow and generally poor purchases. Not to pick on Russ, but buddy, ain't that truly the case?

Maxima or Altima, Accord CL-S or plain-jane nonpremium-badged cooking Honda, none of these cars should be mistaken for BMWs in their suspension tuning. They're all quite disconnected in road feel; you never quite know what the front end is trying to communicate. I hear and read the G35 is much better, but I have yet to drive one. I can only hope Nissan has taken a lessons from the Germans on this; if so, the G may be my next car if Nissan sees fit to offer a manual transmission in the sedan. (I need four doors.)
Cheers,
5-spd 3.0L Maximas do not run 14.8 1/4 miles stock.
You do realize that every tenth of a second equals about a car length, right? So a 14.8 and 15.0 1/4 might not sound that dramatic a difference, but it is.
Take your car to the track sometime, it might put things in perspective for you.

Then how does a 4th gen 190hp 3.0L run high 14s too? Geeeee.....
My time slip was posted, and a video of me running a while back.
You must be a newbie.
Also, to the comment that I can't beat Altimas, I have and did. It was a auto, and that is why I beat it. The autos do not trap like a 5spd and do not pull like a 5spd Maxima would. Everyone here knows that.
***EDIT****
Also, the only part my car has better is the highway. The CL-S that is. I ran at the track this weekend 4 times and was not impressed.
Yes I ran it, and pushed it as hard as I could, if I floored it I spun, so I had to lightly into the throttle.
Here was my time each run I hit a 15.3 at 92 mph consistant. I was getting 2.45x 60s though, but I wasn't impressed. It was 85 degrees, and 100% humidty.
Now I wish I had my max again.

One other thought I wanted to leave. I would bet you could take 2 identical 5-speed maximas. Same driver, same weight, same gas, same pavement, etc. One might run 15.0 and the other might run 15.7. Production variances.

Post up the video and timeslip.
