Dying Transmission?

Just wanted to see what you all thought of this, I'm pretty sure my automatic transmission is dying, but maybe there is hope.

I just changed my driver's side CV axle with one from Raxles on Friday, and this noise started not long after that. First and second gear are fine, but third and fourth have a pretty bad rumbly vibration at part throttle that goes away when you let it coast down. The fluid still looks pretty red, but it's turning brown and smells a little burnt.

Is there any hope of saving this transmission? I want to do an RE4F04V swap, but I need to save up some cash first, any ideas on how long I might have before this thing really dies on me?
