License plate covers / frames
Since I HAVE TO put a front license plate on my Max
, I figured why not go all out?
What are your opinions of my options here:
1. Leave it plain
2. I was looking around on the net and I found these clear license plate covers. http://www.jcwhitney.com/productnoit...=14977&BQ=jcw2 If I buy these, I would probably buy the smoke tinted ones. Unless that would be too fugly.
3. Or should I buy the actual Nissan Maxima license plate frames?
Opinions?

I have the smoked ones, and they look great
Check out my pics. I just put a rear one on, so it looks better now (pics soon).
In Ontario I don't know if they'll bust you for smoked. I HOPE cops have better things to do.
Mike
bottom line - go with smoked

Why the hell would you get a ticket for a clear cover? You're not reducing the visibility of the plate AT ALL! All you're doing is helping the police out by keeping your license plate free from damage, salt damage, bugs, etc... I'd love to get a ticket because I had a CLEAR cover on my plate...heads would roll. I've got a smoked one on the front/rear and it's perfectly legal in Ohio, but of course each state may be different?

Yea, I live in Colorado too... so I am wondering about if it would be legal or not (the smoked cover). I might go with the smoked one. I guess I could just call the DMV and ask...
geo1317, your frame is cool, too... where did you get it?

For what it's worth, they are illegal in CA. Clear or tinted, it doesn't matter.
I guess they make it harder for the cops and the photo radar machines to read your plates because of the glare from natural and artificial lights that reflect off of them. Plus, if you have a smoked cover on your plate at night, it would be VERY hard to read.
