Painting intake manifold cover?
I've seen on a few peoples sites pics of this done in red.. I think it looks really good.
Does it have to be high temp paint?
What process did you who have done it used?(Clear laquer used?)
I went to buy paint today and the only high temp/manifold paint they had in red was more of a gross orange.
Thanks..
Josh

I removed the cover. Washed it twice with dishsoap, make sure to get it nice and clean. Then I used masking tape to cover the "Nissan V6 3000" and cut the edge with a razor knife. Next I used high temp. paint. I applied several light coats and let it sit for 15-20 mins. At that time I carefully removed the tape. The edges of the "Nissan V6 3000" where fuzzy so I used q tips and finger nail polish remover to clean them up. Dip it in the remover then I ran the q tip on the back of my hand as to remove any drips. Then I rubed it along the edge of "Nissan V6 3000". I used the same trick on the 24 valve area. Let that sit for 1 hr or so. Then clear coat with high temp clear coat paint.
I hear there is some brush on stuff in the model area of your local hobby store that's suppose to work as good as masking tape. It may be easier to use. Liquid frisket - any art supply store has it. Good luck.

you should wipe it or wash the intake
manifold with paint laquer thinner.. use high temp engine paint. there is a diff color. go to kragens. they might have it. if u wanna mask something off, take off the masking tape while the paint it still wet so you won't get that fuzzy effect around the edges.. spray light coats and multible coats. finish it off with clear coat. hight temp..theoretically you don't need engine paint (hi temP) cuz the intakemanifold should get tooo hot. my friend painted his graphics on his valve cover on a sentra with normal paint and it's still on there. been on there for 3 yrz with no burnt marks.. but it's your call
the above are just suggestions on how to achieve your goal. i am in no way liable if you screw up.
