Ok heres my question, i want to get a 95/96 maxima but depending on the deal that i can find i might have to get a GXE, but my question is how is the suspention different on a SE from the one on a GXE(spinmg, shocks, etc)?

Oh an i asked a dealer once what the if it is possible to make a GXE handle better than a SE and he told me no and that the only way to make a GXE handle like a SE was to replace the whole suspention of the GXE with an SE. can this this really be true because as sson as he said that i walked out?

If you're worried about handling, get the GXE and upgrade the suspension. Even if you get the SE you'd want to upgrade, it's not like the SE really has an advanced suspension... I believe it's just the shocks are a tad bit stiffer, they might even be the same shock, just revalved. Get the GXE and replace the struts and shocks and you'll have a much better handling car than an SE. If that guy told you that you couldn't make a GXE handle better than a stock SE, he's nuts...

OK here's the deal-I had a 95 GXE and a 99 SE. LIke night and day in the handling dept. The SE really grabbed the road but road a little rough. My GWX road somewhat plush and was more comfortable. I think the shocks, springs, wheels, anti roll bars and bushing are different on the SE. That's it BUT that's alot of $ to replace and you get almost none of that back on resale. Plus the SE has no speed governor at 117 like the GXE. If you're going to gut the car and redo the suspensions anyway, then maybe you should get a GXE if you just want a sporty ride and only mod 1 or 2 components, then the SE will be the better choice.

Get the Se!!!!

Even though I have a 95 GLE, I should have got the SE that I was test driving. According to the dealer the SE shocks are different and according to my factory service manual the rear springs are different. But I must admit that I already changed out the springs to lower it but I would not have had to add factory foglights change out the gauges or had a computer with a governor(not that I go that fast any way. But if I,m correct in saying so I think that a GXE comes with to few many interior extra,s that I would rather come standard. I guess it boiles down to personal taste.
