Go with the GREDDY cat-back. Its a little expensive but it looks sharb and has a low tone(not too loud) It has a 2 1/2" diameter.

Does anyone have experience with the new Apexi World Sport exhaust. The Greddy is nice, but a little too loud, with the CAI and y-pipe combo. I want something that is a little quieter.

yeah, I'd like some opinions on it. Currently I have the CAI and working on the Y-pipe and exhaust. My friend has all three and it's a little to loud for my liking, I'm hoping the Apexi WS is quieter, but don't want to waste the money to find out that it isn't.

Greaddy... loud...

I too am looking for a cat-back. I wanted to buy the GReaddy but i heard a Max with one and man was it loud. I don't know what your definition of loud is, but you know when that Max was coming. Maybe it just could of been that ll his packing was burned out but no matter it was loud. I heard about that Apex WS but I didn't know if they made it for our Max'x.... If you find anything out Wicked1044 let me know.... thanks

Are Apexi's loud? I've never heard anything about them. My friends car is loud when above 3000 RPM and there is a droning sound below that, so it's kinda loud all the time. When he gases it, you can hear the intake and the exhaust from pretty far away. I have to admit I like the sound, but I don't know how long I would like it.
I think I'm going to get the y-pipe and greddy, just to be safe...and I can get a good deal on it (used).

It really depends on your adversion to noise. My personal opinion is, don't do it. I do not want a louder than stock exhaust. I have Stillen/K&N intake, Y-pipe and custom B-pipe. When not driven aggressively, the car is stock quiet. When I do get into the throttle, all of the noise is from under the hood, none from out back. I've had guys who have exhausts get into my car and breath the heaviest sigh of pleasure over how nice and quiet my interior is in comparision to what they have to drive around in all day. Its a world a difference.

Bottom line is this, any, ANY aftermarket exhaust, when coupled with an intake & Y, is going to produce considerably more noise than stock. Even at idle, there will be an ever present drone that just increases with throttle. You say that you want performance without annoying noise - stay stock. B/c the other bottom line is this, no aftermarket exhaust is going to net you much more than about four horsepower at the wheels anyway.

I think this is the one that fits on the 95-96 maximas. If I'm correct it's mentioned on Cheston's website, http://www.maximadriver.com
If this is the same type of HKS exhaust mentioned before, then it's supposedly really quiet.

The HKS is not a catback, it is just the rear section. It is often mistakenly advertised as a catback. n/m

good idea

The 2k muffler's are redesigned and better, they have this variable cap that opens and closes differently depending on how much pressure is being put upon it ( more pressure = more speed = open more ) so basically it's only fully open when you floor it; so when your driving around town and stuff it's not all the way open and is not making as much noise.... at least this is how i interperted it, if i am mislead someone please correct me, also i like your idea a lot I hope someone replies to that soon.

the 2000 maxs exhaust is almost the same as the 1989 se max. theres a little valve that opens under pressure with the dual exhaust. the hsk is a nise exhaust. its listed as a cat-back but its not. a nice set-up is the hks with the courtesy b-pipe (there your cat-back) (very quite) also the 2000 needs a little work to be fitted on a 4th gen i heard. it dosen't get louder when your at w.o.t. it releases back pressure when it needs to. the a'pex dunk and the hks don't compare to the greddys looks at all. the greddy looks great. many people go for the look of their muffler because you only get about 4 hp with it so looks are important to a lot of people and not the hp gain.

Hmmmm. Really? Have you ever heard that same set-up with a Y? How much is the Dunk?

Greddy SP vs. Apexi N-1

i think Greddy SP is the best exhaust for maxima, not too loud, makes solid muffed noise. on the other hand Apexi N-1, it's loud and makes "broken tone" noise. Had'em both.

DUNK

I don't know how it would sound with the Y pipe, but I imagine it would not be too loud still. The Apex N1 is a very loud muffler, but the Dunk is fairly quiet. It cost me around $220.
