Center bore, hub bore, blah blah blah. (Wheel question)
Alright, I've got a '96 max SE. It has '98 SVT Cobra wheels on it. From what I've gathered, the hub bore for the max is 66.06mm. Hub bore for a mustang is 70.5mm (I'm assuming the wheel center bore is 70.5 as well). I've got a vibration that I can't get rid of and I'm assuming it's because I need hubcentric rings. Problem is, I can't find the right size. Closest one is a 66.06 to 71.12mm. Will this work? Could I shave some off the ring to get it to work? Or should I go to a machine shop and have them drill out the wheels to 73 or 74mm beacuse I can find hub rings for that? How much would this cost and is it worth the hassle? Thanks for any insight.

Yeah, hubcentric rings are the way to go....solved my vibration. Also me taking the time to properly mount the rim to the axle.
I would personally buy the plastic ones (like 5-8 bucks for whole set)from like DiscountTire and carefully shave them so that fit is VERY SNUG in the rim. But you have to make sure that you can sand/shave them in a perfect circle. Carefully mount the rim making sure that the lugs are perfectly centered and drive.
If vibration goes away...you are golden and can consider having custom ones made or shaving the rim or whatever. I would make sure your rims are perfectly balanced before you try this.
I personally would not have them drill out the wheels. I am not a metalurgist (sp?) but that might effect the integrity of the rim itself.

Thanks guys. I've always been very careful when putting the rims back on the car and tightening in a star pattern. It just seems to me that by doing this and having acorn style lug nuts, the wheel would be centered and the hub ring really wouldn't do much of anything.

In your case, you may be best served by the plastic type rings as Colonel stipulated above......that way you can shave it down "perfectly".
