Maxspeed and KYBs vs GC Coilovers and KYBs...?
Maxspeed and KYBs vs GC Coilovers and KYBs...?
Looking for peoples opinion on this one. Currently running a stock suspension and I have the option of going with either setup for the same amount of money.
I can just barely stand the SE suspension on rough roads so I really do not want to go any rougher. I know the GCs have a bad ride in general? But I was wondering if I adjusted my KYBs would it make any difference? The main reason for the GCs is the adjustable height so I can do a perfect drop w/o any cutting as well as raise it in the winter.
BTW with the GCs do I need new dustboots? Or is that only applicable to normal springs?

Ground Controls and comfort should never be used in the same sentance.
If you want to drop it a bit and maintain a stock like ride get H&R springs. Couple them with KYB GR2 or go for adjustable AGX's and you'll be very happy.
The only other option I think would be MaxSpeed springs. I haven't rode in a car with them, but I hear the ride is very smooth - similar to H&R.

Pretty much answered my question. I guess its time to buy some springs and cut em. I do need KYB dust boots though right?

ahh whatever its up to you.. but having a car very low all the time sucks.. my GCs have my car lowered about 2 inches or so I still have wheelgap and i'll scrape my lip on almost anything...

Cutting Springs
If you've got "Dead Coils" you can get away with cutting one off. For example Sprints, if you cut one coil off the rear, it makes the car sit level and the ride remains the same.
There are generally no "Dead Coils" on front springs. If you chop a coil off a front, your ride will suffer.

Ground control's comfort is non-existent unless you're stationary.
I just proved you wrong njmaxseltd

On a more serious note, ohboiya just installed his a couple of weeks ago and he seemed pretty thrilled about it, you could PM him and ask him for impressions.
Finality, you made it pretty clear that you prioritized ride quality and comfort, so I think you can just forget coilovers. I'm 99% sure I'll be getting Maxspeeds and AGX next summer based on the only-positive feedback I've heard so far on the .org about its ride quality.
