i was wondering if anyone had 18's or 19's on a max that has not been lowered. please post pics or links. i'm planning on getting 19's but don't plan on dropping the car. i know most of you guys will oppose to this...but i'm pretty set on this.

good luck with it...i dont know how "set" you are on this, but my friend was in the same boat as you with his '01 mustang (he didn't want the springs to adversely affect his ride quality). but when he saw his car with 18's, he changed his mind immediately. i dont have any pics of an unlowered max on 18's, but i have a pic of my friends mustang somewhere. i'll dig it up and post it when i find it.

Ray, Your car is gonna have more ground clearance than a hummer, I would consider a slight drop. H&R would be a nice fit, car rides like stock!

What if you got 18's with a smaller side wall height, would that help make up the difference and make it look like stock ride height?

If you're saying what I think you're saying, then that would make the overall diameter of the wheel + tire combo smaller than stock...

In which case the wheel well gap would be WORSE.

My thought was to shrink the sidewall height by 1 inch and increase rim size by an inch...so you have more rim, less tire, but the same size as stock. Make sense or am I making people more confused?

You can make your comparisons by looking at his car and mine. Same wheels and tires, except for my Maxspeed Springs....

what if i went w/ 245/40/19's instead of 35 series? i know it will throw the speedo off, but it would fill the wheel gap... thoughts???

You can play with the wheel sizing all you like, you'll still have some wheel gap. Why not get some H&Rs to lower your car and maintain the ride quality?

I agree. I used to be afraid of suspension mods, but adding new springs really aren't that big of a deal. I'd go with Eibachs or Progress though. Plus your handling and body sway will drastically improve too.

I suggested the H&Rs because I'm guessing part of his reluctance to lower his car is because he doesn't want to sacrifice ride quality. The Eibachs or Progress are cool too, depends on how low you want to drop the car and how harsh a ride you're willing to put up with.

My biggest fear about lowering my car is steep driveways and flooding. I live in an area that gets flooded often, and I usually don't wait for the water to recede before I drive through. As it is, I barely get through half a foot of water. Lowered, I'm sure I'll be in the water.

for what it's worth, if you don't lower the car but have those 18's or 19's on there, it'll look like you have smaller rims than they actually are. at least that's how it looks to me.

i'm just waiting till i find the right rims. i loved the c5's. i think i can get a hold of the old racing hart ones for about 3g's. i also like the mille miglia evo5. but no matter which rim i get i want 19's.
