Help! Engine refuses to revv up after cone filter recharged
Help! Engine refuses to revv up after cone filter recharged
This is day 3 with my Berk intake. Since it is used, I decided to recharge it using the K&N recharger kit. Washed it per instructions, re-oiled and test drove. After 1/4 mile the engine almost shut down, refuses to revv up past 2000RPM, sounds like "choking".
Another thing I have noticed. The output collector thing, a grille that is built-in the MAF unit, is covered in smoke, and so are the clamps. Could the intake cause the retard timing?
I am really scared to cause any problem. I think that the filter is a little wet and needs time to dry out. Anyhow, if in a few hrs "the symptoms" wont go away, my stock air goes back in.

Do a search on MAF, you'll find a ton of threads, polls, etc. You may have overoiled your filter, it's a common mistake.

hmm I just test drove it and all the symptoms went away. Indeed. I just put a little more oil than I should. It rides as new, and revs happier throughout RPM range, plus I love that mean sound!
