GRRR! Bad day at the dealer service department (venting)
I had the service engine light come on last week. DAVEDZNY brought over a Snap On scanner and he hooked it up to get the code from the ECU. The diagnosis was a bad O2 sensor, bank 1, sensor 2. I call the dealer to make an appointment for service. I tell them that if this is what is most likely is the problem, do you have the part (O2 sensor) in stock? Oh sure we have those parts, but most likely your diagnosis is wrong anyway, they tell me. I called them to make sure I wouldn't be wasting my time today.
Well guess what, I drop the car off, call back 2 hours later and BAM, bad O2 sensor and we don't have that part in stock! WTF?????!!! Thanks for wasting my time, PAL!
"We'll call you next week when we get the part."
"But you said you had those parts in stock!?"
"Oh, we used the last one yesterday." Yeah, right, sure.
As I am leaving I am in a pretty foul mood since I wasted my time today and took a day off (for this and other reasons).
To make matters worse, the monkey who put my car back into the service lot left the car in gear and didn't put on the emergency brake. I started the car and before I knew what was happening, the Maxima was lurching forward into the chain link fence that was about 1 foot in front of me. I guess I take it for granted that anyone who drives a stick will park the car in neutral and engage the parking brake, that's what I always do. Since when do you shut it off in gear and not pull up the parking brake?? Anyway, I hit the pole on the chain link fence dead on center with my licence plate, and it sheared the pole completely off at the bottom. Good thing, because if the pole didn't give, it would have caused tremendous damage I assume.
As it stands now, not a scratch on the Max except for a broken license plate frame and slightly mangled license plate, and a wasted day at the dealer. I get to go back next week, oh joy!

Question for you, Maximizd
First sorry to hear what happened to You at the dealer. But I just wanted to know how many miles You have on your Max, because My (O2) sensor went bad at 3400mi and it was the Front Exhaust Gas sensor. Which is fail code (61). Have You heard of others on this forum having bad (O2) sensors, and do you think this is a problem?
