Congrats on the new car. I can't wait to get mine next year. Driving a stick isn't hard. I learned in about 20mins on my boys Mazda Protege. Just don't get frustrated b/c you will stall out a couple times..

It's a pretty good price for a lease under the conditions he has it on.

 

I was commenting on his "enjoy the purchase" so I wanted to clarify it. So it's a 3 year lease, what's the residual, somewhere around $12000? Did they mention that you may have to pay property tax on it every year? That may be a grand each year. The car itself is a beauty but I find it dangerous to have someone learn to drive a stick on such a powerful car. Good luck!

Btw, i didn't know people were supposed to pay property tax on leased vehicles. I've leased one before and never had to do so. As for the residual, unless you plan on keeping the car that doesn't really matter except at the point of contract when #'s are calculated.

 

In Texas you had to pay property tax on leased vehicles but the state revoked the tax in late 1999.

 

I am in Texas and i didn't have to do so. Could it be the terms of my lease? (e.g. not the regular type, they called it "Smart-Lease")

 

odd... i never had to pay any sort of property tax on my current lease. I will, however, make it a point to ask abou that though tonight.

 

I think in MA, we need to pay the TAX....

this 'tax' may throw a significant monkey wrench into my master plan of taking over the world.

 

You dont pay property tax on a leased vehicle, but you pay sales tax on each payment. That $399/month may not be with your sales tax. So it might be an extra 20-25/month.

my current lease is $350 a month..... thats all i pay.... woudl taxes have been included in this $350....

i want to pay $399/month... nothing more.... i'll pull the plug on the whole ****ing thing if thats the case of $20 more/month

when i get there, i am tellign them that $399 better include tax.. if they say no, i will leave... it's not liek i need the car tomorrow.




also, to the previous post about the 45,000 miles... thats how many miles i have for the lease..... there are probably like 7 miles on the car right now

 

What are the capitalization cost (sale price) and residual value?

 

all prices (car and options) were invoice.... cannot remember what the total was or the residual.
