It's like any other fuel pressure regulator->

You will need to find out if your fuel pressure it's dropping during WOT. If it is, it will help. On SC setup, doesn't the kit come with a fuel pressure riser or some sort of Fuel Management Unit?

hey climax, I am not at liberty to pass judgement on products anymore. My experience has been that the unit has been adequate to hande my current boost. I know that Loren has changed out his unit for a more customized unit due to his highly increased boost. Currently, I run the stock FMU with a 3.48 pulley and have no detonation problems whatsoever. Perhaps if I was going more extreme I would look at altering my fuel pressure in some way to maintain the richness of the mix, however it is sufficient at this time.

I hope I helped.

I remember hearing the Stillen/Vortech FMU that came with the kit was too conservative. It makes the Maxima run richer and sacrifice some power. I believe Loren switch to another Vortech FMU that's more aggrassive(leaner) and made like 20hp.

Actually, you need to run richer in order to increase power and avoid detonation. Running leaner actually hurts the power output. You may want to talk to Loren regardig this, however, when they tuned my car, leaning the mixture caused detonation and loss of power, while richening the fuel mixture increased power and decreased the chance for detonation. The Vortech unit is adequate to richen the mixture unless you are going extreme. If the Vortech unit was to "conservative", it wouldnt richen the mixture but instead lean it.

This is at least what I have experienced.

What is a good time frame to wait before lowering pulley sizes?

Going from stock to 3.48, then down to the 3.33. Thanks

There isnt really a predetermined methodology to swap pulleys. The way I have done it is when I feel the need for more power, I perform the swap. The last swap I did was about 3 months ago. We have waited to see if there would be any adverse effects to the tranny. Luckily there has not been. Because of that we are going down one more pulley size to 3.33 in February. Because there will be much more increased boost from stock to 3.33 we are going to keep a holding pattern on swaps for sometime to see how the car likes the 3.33. we will probably stop there for it is a daily driver.

Their is power to be gained with an Adj. FPR for a NA car also, not much though 2-3hp. For the money, on a SC or NA car, its better to do a fuel controller like the Apexi SAFC of Field SFC.

I use an Adj. FPR for my NOS Dry kit because it is more sensative and consitant to vacume line (reference port) pressure changes. The factory FPR is not easy to properly tune the Dry NOS with.
