Found a 1987 MT maxima

So to start off, I don't know much about these cars and this is my first time here. I have been looking for a good project car for a while, and I have always liked nissans. Earlier today I stumbled across a 1987 MT maxima, and she desperately wants it off her driveway, as the car has been sitting for 11 years. The owner said there is something wrong somewhere with the fuel delivery, because the last time she drove it, all the fuel drained out.

I'm going to get a closer look at the car this afternoon, and I was just wondering what are some things I should be looking for? The car appears to have power everythinf, aS well as a sunroof. I'm not sure of the mileage. Is this worth towing and working on it?

I would, one thing you might want to check on is the recall, it's for the fuel injectors and wiring, not sure if they are still doing the recall for them but you should be able to call Nissan and give them the vin and they should be able to tell you. it's more then likely will need a good going though, timing belt, water pump, fluid change all the way around, vacuum lines. If the body is in good shape it would be totally worth it I think.

This car has been sitting for 11 years? Yikes.

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying for it?

Went and looked at the car. Can't find any rust on the frame, what is visible anyway. The pulleys are pretty rusted though, definitely going to need new ones. 4 tires, brake lines, belts, find the hole in the fuel line or tank. Car has 145k miles on it and a new clutch was put in when it was parked 11 years ago. Overall, better than I expected. They said I can have it for $100. Oh, and it's a 1985, not a 1987.

$100 is fair. Sounds like a resto project.

with the 85 you don't have to worry about the recall, just keep in mind if you do any internal work on the engine it will be a A-B block not a W block there was some changes with the heads and block after the first couple years of VG engines in which you can mix and match heads to block but don't remember off hand which will work, but did come across a cross ref. at one point in time..... for the fuel leak I would start with changing the rubber lines along with the filter.....

I bought a $100 Max once. Cleaned it up, stripped it of some electronics, sold it for $600.
