Me and Steve(Frankencar) went to the dyno shop today!
Hey guys I have some new best #'s here. The only thing different from my last dyno is that I fixed my gas pedal stopper(it was real loose). Last time out I did 220.8 FWHP and 225.5 FWTQ. This time around I did 229.2 FWHP(Almost 230 damn it!) nad 229.6 FWTQ. It's funny how close my TQ #'s are to HP #'s these days.
But any how my Varibale intake manifold was still completly screwed up today. It was still attempting to swith over at 4600 RPM rather then 3800. My power was falling off for a bit and then was shooting up sky high. So later today I had a feeling what my problem was so me and steve pulled off my VIM piece. As I suspected the gasket inside of my manifold had completly fallen off.. It was literaly just siting in my intake manifold(causing tubulance and allowing lots of air leakage)! So Steve gave me the idea to glue the sucker in place
. So now all is well with my car finaly! Now I am just waiting for my Z manifolds to arrive and then I intend to put down 250 FWHP(maybe even more).
Steve did well today too, I will let him share his #'s with you. His apexi intake was tested back to back with my K&N on his car(note: not tested on mine, he showed up late.) and it added some very respecatbale gains.. I will let him share those with you also.(I want a apexi setup now!!)

very nice numbers.

Newman my lines where backwards before. But with my manifold screwed up my car worked much better with my lines on backwards(on the dyno). I dont know why exactly but what ever; everything is fixed now
my numbers were:
221.5 hp and 230TQ with the apexi
217.7 hp and 227TQ with a KNN RC-4700
221.7 hp and 233.4TQ with NO FILTER (I had to try it)
so the Apexi fooled me, it actually did make more hp then a KN/N filter on two different runs. AND the best part was that for some reason it held power better up top. from 6200-6500 rpms it was at least 10hp more, it's actually better for me to hold the car right to redline with the Apexi Filter unlike the shift early with the KN/N. Ethan already ordered a Apexi Setup from me
I think the dyno he uses is low on the number because i only got 7 hp more then at the otehr dyno shop but i have a catback and a test pipe so i suspect they are about 5hp lower then my shop would get. esp since ethan got less then i got when he had his catback and just intake. I can't wait to help ethan instal the Z manifold cus then i'm ordering one if we make it work lol. i'm gonna make him a custom intake for the Z manifold too. I also borrowed his stock y-pipe for production. 2k2's watch out i WILL have a y-pipe out for you guys fully polished and mandrel bends and tig welds soon enough.
221.5 hp and 230TQ with the apexi
217.7 hp and 227TQ with a KNN RC-4700
221.7 hp and 233.4TQ with NO FILTER (I had to try it)

Congrats, you have some some good number, man I have to check my manifold to see if there any gasket problems and I Know I need to adjust my Gas pedal it seems a little loose. When I punch it's tiny delay in response. Z manifolds great man I know you'll get good results with those..
Heres some pics of the day http://members6.clubphoto.com/ethan5...ner-f8f1.phtml
Could the difference in hp be from the differences in the filter adapter? I am not sure what kind of adapter each filter uses. I am sure adapters like JWT with a smooth funnel allows more efficient air flow and therefore more hp. Without filter not necessary give more hp, because you still do not have smooth flow at the inlet. Should try a JWT intake. With and without just the filter.

Gosh Darnit!
why didn't i see this post before I ordered the franken/knn filter yesterday. I was thinking about ordering the apexi but I didn't want to spend $80 more for a filter that I thought would return only like 1hp improvement over the knn. Oh well

deezo you were sleeping that late, damn you. hehe. we will all dyno soon i want to get several people together too do it and it's gonna cost me a pretty penny and i'm saving up. when i dynoed with ethan it was not planend it was like steve i'm dynoing tomorrow you should come. umm ok i will. i'm looking to have a y-pipe made up asap and then produced i just need to get a mandrel bender. we'll dyno after that.

So hold on here, Steve dynoed at 222fwhp and 233fwtq with just intake (three different versions tested) and Ethan got 229fwhp and 230fwtq with an intake, Y-pipe, cat, UDP, and catback
Only 7fwhp from all those mods?
Could you guys compute your "average" HP and TQ. My dyno shops prints this out on my dyno sheet. Simply take the power numbers per 100rpms from the same starting point and ending point on the dyno run and divide the total by how many 100rpms increments there were over the run.

Steve has a intake, test pipe and a cat-back. With the same filter as me he did a best of 217.7 hp and 227TQ. Thats 12 less peak HP then I made. And I will say it again, my VIM was not functioning properly and i had a big rubber gasket in the middle of my intake manifold..
BTW We raced again and my car is a good bit faster on a roll.

As for you're street run with Steve, I've never been an advocate of street racing to determine the performance levels of similiar powered cars because just a .5 second difference in reaction time (nearly impossible to gauge with the eye), from a stop or roll, can instantly mean the difference between a 1.5-2.0 car lead within the first few seconds of race. The track is the ONLY place that will reveal the performance of a car. From there you can compare the real ET/MPH without variables like reaction time and such. I think Steve's car is much closer in power to your car than you want to believe

BTW, why is it everytime you go to the dyno your car is acting up and isn't getting the "right" numbers
I'm just screwing with ya.Dave

FYI my dyno plot is extremly jagged. The graph is all over the place, ask Steve if you would like. I never said I had a "vacume leak", my VI butterfly valve gasket was just completly off. I'm not complaining about my dyno either..
Me and Steve raced from a roll(70 MPH and 20 MPH) like 4 times the other day and each time my car would pull away from him nicely. I refuse to beleive I started off quiker then him 4 times in a row. And maybe you never noticed our traps speeds either? In crappy conditions with my gas pedal and VIM screwed up I did 99.4 MPH..
Emax im driving up to RI to street race you ASAP. Try and pick on someone your own speed.
Oh wait.... i just remembered I can't go. I have to attend the big street race meet tonight outside the Y.
Anyone in Charlotte care to attend??

Has Steve ever ran again? He's only ran once at the track and that was bonestock, right? I'm just stating the peak numbers show that your cars are very comparable that's why I was wondering if you guys had a total average HP and TQ number. This will tell you which car is making more power overall. When I dyno my car with my VI, I doubt I'll show much more peak power, but my average HP and TQ should be significantly higher.

Steve ran again, he did a 14.4 with some mods I beleive. We have no total average #'s, however with my screwed up manifold at the time of the dyno he had a bit more low end then me. My car holds about 12 more HP above steves from 6200-6500 RPM. Not a huge difference but it makes me noticable quicker when we race on a roll. When I get a better filter element and I re-dyno with my fixed VIM I expect about 236 FWHP.

Only 7fwhp from all those mods?
Could you guys compute your "average" HP and TQ. My dyno shops prints this out on my dyno sheet. Simply take the power numbers per 100rpms from the same starting point and ending point on the dyno run and divide the total by how many 100rpms increments there were over the run.

dave-i will admit that ethan's car is a little bit faster then mine. we raced several times and i think we hit at about the same time every time BUT like you said .5 seconds isnt that noticable. i didn't get spanked that bad a couple times but i wasn't faster. from a stop i dont' know what happens it's his turf and i cant launch still (although at the track i always seem to get good 60 foot times and ethan's aren't so good) and he jumps me hard core. i have projects in the works to bring me right back up to ethan's speed though. i thi9nk at the track it will be VERY close. i ran since my 14.3 run ran 14.4-14.6's a few times. i'm fairly consistent but my 60 foots were low 2.3's which i want to improve and it was 80 degress out and HIGH HIGH humidity so if i can run a 14.4 in warm humid weather i can only imagine what i will run at island dragway on Oct 13, i might even have a proto type y-pipe on my car but then with more in production.
irgeula-ethan has a frankencar intake he's just gettnig an apexi fitler too
the dyno shop is also GHETTOFIED they use a DOS program and he can't even get my run files onto a disk BLAH.

Steve,
Why did you not dyno the Monster Flow at this time? I have been waiting for months for this information.

i don't offer the monster flow filters anymore and i don't plan on carrying them in the future. Also i didn't have any left i sold them all.
