My car won't start and the CEL was on so I pulled codes and got a single flash, then double, then three, the four, then five flashes. Thing is that the CEL didn't come on when the car was running. Does the light come on when just the key is on? What codes do you get from the ECU when the CEL isn' on (55)? I really need to get this thing running.

Your not at the code reading stage yet. The 1-5 flashes are the different diagnostic modes, and you want mode 3.

When it gives 3 flashes turn the screw back fully counterclockwise then read the code. All clear is code 55.
