Transmission Messing Up Help!!!

Hey guys. Sorry I havent posted anything in here for a while, I have been real busy with work/school. Anyways here is the MAJOR problem (or not?): when I was leaving from my class tonight, i backed out in reverse, put it in drive and floored it, to chirp the tires for this guy that is in my class. I go to put the thing back into reverse to back up, and it wont go.....it's like a parking brake almost! So i put it back into neutral, and it starts driving forward. So basically, park is park and it is hard to shift it from park to any other gear; reverse is like putting on the brakes; neutral is like 1st gear, and drive is drive, but it acts like it is not in over drive, only using 3 gears; 1 & 2 work fine. What in the world could be the matter??? Is this something easy to fix? PLease help ASAP, I need my car to drive to school/work which is about 20 miles away, and i dont wanna mess my engine or tranny up (anymore)

Linkage problem. Easy to fix. Two plastic bushings. Fifteen minutes...maybe. Use the search function and you should find plenty of discussion on this topic.

Take my word on this, trust me: Your tranny is your winkest link!!!
... don't abuse it.

I have a beautiful Maxima sitting in my lot with a puddle of gear oil under the bell housing. Second tranny in two years.
If you need your car to get you from home to school and back, try to avoid unnecessary abuse to impress your classmates. Your 12+ year-old car (assumed) GXE can't take it.
Fix the linkage now before it starts slipping real bad. Good luck. You can do it yourself if you're at all mechanically inclined, and there have been plenty of discussions here about it. Good luck!
