Nealoc187 ran a new best on slicks....
He wanted me to post this for him because he is computer illiterate...j/k Neal
1st run:
60' 2.13
ET 14.45
MPH 96.7 MPH <---best MPH ever for me
This was my first pass ever on slicks, I dumped it from 3000rpm. Bogged BAD.
Slicks at 15 psi.
2nd run:
60' 2.05
ET 14.35 <----Best ET for me
MPH 96.1
Dumped clutch at 4000rpm. Still bogged, though not as bad.
Slicks at 13 psi
On both of these runs, my 1/8th MPH's were the LOWEST THEY HAVE EVER BEEN. Typically, on street tires, I see 76.5-77pm at the 1/8th mark. Today I ran 74.0 and 75.0 through the 1/8th. this has me a bit concerned, but I think it is just a byproduct of how bad I was bogging off the line. I hope.
Launching on slicks was not what I thought it would be. I had expected it to be very violent and jerky, but in actuality it was very very smooth.
Weather was decent today, low 80s and low humidity.
This is a 2 day event so I'll be running tomorrow and I'm going to try something different. I'm going to try as SteveChicagoSC suggested running 22 or so PSI in the slicks to help out on top end, because I'm having no problems hooking up at all. I'm also going to launch harder 5000rpm to start with.
Problem is that I will probably only get 2 runs tomorrow. I am running in a heads up NA 4 or 6 cylinder class, and most of the cars are engine swapped Civic hatches that have a few tenths and a few MPH on me. I will get one more qualifying pass and then probably be eliminated in the 1st round of racing unless raising the pressure on my slicks magically gets me a few tenths. I'm hoping it will but I wouldn't bet my life on it.
Any other suggestions?

Slightly over-inflate the rear tires so they roll more freely.
Ice-down your intake manifold.
Spritz the radiator with a fine mist of alcohol from a spray bottle.
Remove all filter media from the intake tract.
Take the fuse for your A/C out, and run the A/C before you race. The A/C compressor won't operate, but the radiator fan will, dumping heat out of the engine. (Turn the A/C off again before you launch.)
Tape the seams of your body panels to reduce drag.
Don't run the engine all the way to red-line in each gear. Shift at 5900-6100 rpms.
Take your floor mats out, so your throttle pedal travels farther.
Adjust your throttle cable if it's loose.
Will our cars run without the alternator belt? (I'm not sure.) If it will, you'll have less parasitic drag during the run if you remove the alty belt.
Don't run with more than 1/8 tank of fresh gas.
Dump all the weight you can out of the car: jack, spare, floormats, back seat, sub-woofers, and any other loose stuff you can get out of there.
Do a burn-out at the line. Back up over your tracks to stage with your slicks resting on your fresh (HOT) burnt rubber.
Wear a helmet, if you are not wearing one to race already.
Good luck.

I hate to mention this and sound like a skeptic, but if he got down to a 2.05 60' and is still @14.35 then he can't get the 13.99 NA.
The MPH is very good though, that shows he's making real good HP up top.
Overall they look like great runs. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

His MPHs are very good, especially with running slicks. I'm hoping to break 100mph this fall with my VI. My 98mph trap was WITHOUT my VI. Who said the 4th gen had no topend

the 4000-4500 zone is horrible in third gear...
I was there today to witness his runs...and he bogged BAD off the line...plus his 8th mile traps are 2-3mph low. We're going to pump his rear tires and slicks up tomorrow...and a cold front pushed through tonight so it will be in the 65 degree range tomorrow at the track....
I'm pretty confident that he will be VERY close to the 13s....
on a side note....SteveChicagoSC ran a 13.0@108 today at the same track and it looking to be the FIRST S/Ced auto max in the 12s tomorrow in the cooler weather.

That was with an extra shot of nitrous right? SC along would be very tough to get it into the 12s, not sure if it's even possible. Even 5spd SCed Maxima will need nitrous to help get it into the 12s.
