Anyone that is 5 speed, has springs and a subwoofer box in the trunk?

I am wondering if i should get H&Rs or not.. Or maybe go for some other springs..

People say my front will be a little higher because i have a 5 speed and the tranny doesn't weigh as much as an auto. I am also getting subs so i'll have extra weight in the trunk at all times.

I do not want the saggy a$$ look.. But at the same time, i don't want springs that are too rough or drop the car lower than 1.6 or so inches.

any ideas?

thanks

Yes your *** will sag But with the H&R's the ride is pretty close to stock. I have two 12"s two amps and a whole lotta wood and the back was about an inch lower than the front. My solution: I got ground controls, but thats definetly not what you want. I dont know what to tell you unless maybe cut the front coils or just don't get springs.

Well

I thought maybe get something like Progress or Sprint springs.. which are supposedly rated about .2 - .3 lower in the front than the back.. so i figure i'd even it out being i'm a 5 speed and will have a heavy box in the trunk...

Go for the Sprints. I have 2 12" subs and 2 amps in the trunk, along with some wood and my back still sits about .5" higher than the front. Yours would probably be about even since you're 5spd.

Later,

the automatic is around 50 pounds heavier than the 5 speed.
Divide that by 2 for each side and you got 25 pounds roughly.
The "soft" part of the H&Rs are maybe around 200LB/in. That works out to around 1/8" inch height difference.

A subwoofer with amp may typically weigh around 40 pounds altogether.
So there is around another 1/8" difference. So you might be about 1/4" lower in the back. But the H&R springs have .1" more drop in the front. It won't be any big difference.

Why worry about a .15" difference (with subwoofer) when you got about 2.00" too much gap to begin with being stock? You could always take out the spare tire and get "run flats".

The time to get real serious about every fraction of an inch is when you want your car corner-weighted for autocross purposes. For that you need coilovers for that type of fine tuning. But your ride will be much harsher with coilovers. Coilover springs would bind up at the rates that our stock "fat" springs have.

Get maxspeeds, they are cheap and are very good springs imo. Ride is more harsh than stock but i never wished i had any other spring. I got about a 1.7 inch drop from them and i have a stealthbox and new bottom board, instead of that flimsy piece of sh...

H&R's and Subs

I recently went with the H&R's for the ride quality and I have a 5speed with two 12's. I was worried about the same thing and yes my car looks a little saggy in the back, but I'm **** as hell and others say they can't tell a difference, sometimes I can't tell, but other times it seems worse. I'm investigating options 1.) Cut one coil in front 2.) some type of spring busing in the rear to help seperate the coil when collapsed (I've herd of others doing this, but don't know how well it works. Here is a pic, but the reason I have it is becasue it's one were I don't think you can tell the differece and maybe you can't but it's been in my head since I droped my 5pseed and put subs in.

I have been contemplating Maxspeeds for a while now but the thing is... they barely give you ANY lowered look.

Sorry, but i kind of find it hard to believe they dropped you 1.7 inches.. they look like they lower the car about 1-1.2" or so.. at least from what i have seen..

do you have any more pics of your car dropped?

how much would you say Progress springs lowered your car? I'm also shooting for AGXs if i get springs...
How would you compare the ride quality to stock?

First of all Steve your a H o M o!

Second you should not get max speed cause they dont drop your car for ****

Third of all you should get sprints because they are soft even with a huge drop.

Fourth of all go back to #1 cause you will get some ****y springs.

i'm going to report this to moderators so they ban you for flaming

your back is a good deal higher than your front
i do not like that, although it's better to have the back sit higher than the front, rather than the other way around..
your car is too low
i do not like that either
your ride quality is pretty stiff, stiffer than i'd be comfortable with for every day driving
i do not like that either

see
there is nothing about you or your car that i like

I'm thinking about Progress springs now. Just need more feedback and pics.

Sorry No recent pictures of my car
I would say that the springs lowered my car exactly as advertised 1.7f/1.5r, I think that is what it is.
Ride Quality? I have my Agx's on 2/4 The ride is more firm, I was concerned it would be to stiff or jarring but I like the way it rides. If you don't want to lose the "luxury ride" dont even think about buying aftermarket springs/shocks. If you put the agx's on 1/1 it would probably be close to stock with these springs

I have progress springs, but I have cut one coil. So mine is really low. Ride quality is still very good with the cut springs. I think it would be excellent with non cut progress springs.

I have progress and agx setup. I like it a lot, rides is pretty good. Right now I have 3 JL 10's and my amps in the trunk and my back still sit a little higher than the front which is still okay with me. I think the feel of the spring really doesn't matter as much once you have aftermarket struts like agx's because if you have "soft spring" it can be compensated with a stiffer setting on the struct it itself, vice versa. I also have pics on my homepage if you like to check it out, but they were when I first got the springs and struts installed so they're a little high anyways...

well
i rode in a car with Sprints, it's not too bad but for every day driving, i can see myself getting annoyed fast.
H&Rs would be fine if not for the saggy back thing.. which might not even be bad.. i personally never saw this, just in some pictures.

Sprints are not as bad as you think. They aren't stiff at all IMHO. they feel about as firm as a BMW. I think they are the perfect spring for the Maxima. They are not bouncy at all like Intrax. They just absorb the bump without much oscillation. I like the ride quality way better than stock. The only other spring that I really like besides those are DropZones. The rest don't seem to do what they are intended.
