Phillips/Osram HID Pictures

Before

After

I had been eyeing this kit because 1) it has Osram German D2R bulbs 2) Phillips Ballasts 3) a TRUE plug and play wiring harness (absolutely no splicing) 4) 4800K (white rather than blue).

I aimed my headlights down and the beam pattern seems to be okay. I still wish I had high beams, but unfortunately we're still waiting on projectors.

He bought them from another member on the .org. I believe the kit is almost identical to the Osram kit Freddie (97GLES) used to sell before the Hanabi kit. For some reason this kit isn't as widespread though because I couldn't find too much info on it.

mrb23 used to have the Osram kit

yes i used to sell the osram hid kits, osram balast with osram hid bulbs (NO philips at all). it was a great kit until we got the hanabi hid kit.

the hanabi has a better color (white with a very light tint of blue). it has a more focus beam on the road and at the same time it has the less cloudy look when you look at them.

the 6000k kits go for $385 with shipping & insurance.

we also have the new 8000k kit which alot of ppl want, it has a nice med. blue tint to it.

we are working on getting the 7000k kit by the next 2 weeks. this kit will be just pure white light with a hint of blue in it.

i sell the 6000k kit the most but the 8000k kit is starting to move alot no.

if you guys need more info please call me at 201-993-3633 ask for Freddie

i have been selling hids here on the org. for almost 1 1/2 years and very happy to say that over 100 kits have been sold. this is 1 mod that not only makes you see better at night but also make the maximas look good. i have been told many times before that this is 1 of the best mods for the max even thow it gives no hp gains.

Freddie my question to you is what brand bulbs can you get, and what type are they? From what I've heard the Hanabi bulbs (D2S) don't have the "bulb masking" like the Osram (D2R) bulbs do.

Here's my bulb:

If I ever need replacements I would buy them through you, but I'd like to get 4800K bulbs.

Freddie is great and I still have my HID kit. I still get "flashed" like once a week or so, usually by station wagon people that I guess have never seen HIDs

The HIDs are great, and I'd definitely want them in whatever car I'm driving. I believe mine were 4200K (got em when kits were rather new) and they are pure white and definitely bright enough for me.

You get flashed because your HIDs don't have a horizontal cutoff and you are causing excessive glare to oncoming drivers.

Are you trying to say those with OEM HIDs don't get flashed?

Has anybody seen the new BMW 745 headlights? They are MAD bright and very annoying to look at. I was suprised because I thought BMW uses the self leveling system to keep them pointed correctly on the road.

Worse IMHO then my retro HID setup.

And BTW - I have yet to get flashed.

No, please don't read more into what I'm writing than what is actually written.

Autoleveling systems are not perfect. On steep grades, they can "fall behind" and fail to correct for the pitch change of the vehicle. That's why, in Europe, car also have a small **** on the dash, allowing the driver to control the stepper motors manually.

What I am saying is that an OE HID system which has the cutoff, will not cause excessive glare to oncoming drivers and those in front of you on level to medium grade roads.

And BTW - I have yet to get flashed.
Well then you deserve a cookie. Maybe yours are aimed low enough, which seems to be the only viable solution. But, bear in mind, you are now reducing the total sight distance (or reach) of your lamps. You see, with an OE HID system, the cutoff allows the lamps to be aimed as far as possible, WITHOUT light passing above that certain cutoff. There IS a reason for the cutoff...it wasn't just something that engineers thought "looked cool".

Some Audi's are annoyingly bright as well. Not sure if the auto-leveling has the response time to handle the little bumps and pitches of most roads today that causes intermittent (significant) glare. Sure don't work for the cars I've seen. TLS's I've seen do a pretty good job of avoiding glare but they also do not seem very bright.
