Getting front bumper painted for $100

Someone performed a hit and run on my car yesterday while I was parked at work. I think it was a truck from a trucking company next to where I park. Looks like the truck made too wide of a turn and hit the front bumper with its tire and kept going. Broke the front drivers headlight and gouged the front bumber and fender. Also broke the turn signal on the front drivers fender. I wasn't all that ****ed since I needed the bumper painted anyways since I have 100+ chips on it.

It was the first time I took my car to work in 2 months, and the first time I drove it in almost a month.

Where are you getting it painted for that price? Since it is gouged, are they fixing the damage before painting (I know that sounds like a silly quesiton, but I can't believe the whole bill will be $100.00)...

Oops! I was being vague, my insurance deductible is $100, so it will only cost me $100 unless the shop will bury my deductible.

Do you think the problems with the Nissan paint is the paint itself, or the thinckness that is applied??

I have not actually seen an exerpt of the 'law' that has been discussed here, but the short end of the story is apparently there has been a shift in paint from solvent based to water based and the latter sucks. Not sure if this is Japan only, but it appears to be involved in more than just Nissan paint..

Nissan paint is the problem. I have had lots of Datsuns and Nissans and the ones in the last ten years all chipped up much worse than their non Nissan garage mates.
With <2000 miles my 2k Max got hit in parking lot and I got a new bumper skin and good quality aftermarket paint, and have no chips.
I am actually happy for the hit.
