Need HELP With Levoc Auto Shift Knob Install...
I have begun the installation of a Levoc Shift **** on my 96 Maxima, and need some input and any tips available. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!!!!
I'm having problems with the plastic piece that is at the top of the rod coming out of the opening where the gear selector is located. The plastic piece is angled slightly, and I'm not sure how the **** will sit against the plastic piece so that the gear shift button will work properly. Do I need to use any of the parts other than the OEM spring/one or two screws/and the yellowish plastic cylinder that is hollow with 2 larger and 1 smaller sized screw holes in it?
I don't have a problem with the wires. My problem is the attachment of the Levoc on top of the OEM rod going into the center console. Anybody that has installed this piece... please respond. If necessary...explain the steps involved. I've heard that this install is fairly simple...so please make it simple for me.
Thanks in advance for your help

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM..............
What a coincidence I just finished installing my LEVOC **** about 20 mins ago and it only took me 20 mins it was real easy. I have the LV-452-E,Chrome w/carbon fiber insert. What do need help with?
Ok, so no ideas
Robert, it looks like its just you and I buddy. Ok, so go back to plan A and have your mechanic call me on Thursday, and I will attempt to guide him through. I just got an e-mail last night from Metallic..and he told me it took him 20 mins to install!
Alright we'll talk again soon!
Thanks

Re: HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM..............
Do the Levoc shifters require any modifications to fit on the Maxima? or is it plug and play? I'm having difficulty in getting my Anniversary Edition shifter fitting on my GXE, as well as others.

It's been over a year since but ....
I remember the levox will and can only fit on there with one screw. I tried align the **** up to the shaft to install 2 screws and the button on the stop is stuck.
The angle piece of plastic should fit fine inside the levoc ****.
Hope this help.

I cut the plastic sleeve off about 1 inch slide the 2 wires in and the sleeve will cover up the rusty factory shaft, because it was to long to slide all the way down and it was hitting the shaft.
It only takes one screw the one at the top of the LEVOC **** and it is the last hole on the bottom of the shaft all of the other stuff is just junk. I did use 3 of the allen screws. The wires are too short so I took off the hole console and everything it will be much easier to work cut the wires off as close to the stock shifter as possible you need all of the slack you can get,the are soldered right up against the stock shaft time you pull up you will see them, just splice the wires either way they have no polarity so it will not matter which is which, put it all the way down in first and it wil be easier to work with,I have been driving around today and it works fine. Let me know if I can help you more.....

Well....................
First I have to say that I've got to give a big shout out to two other Max owners here in Austin. They are both members on this forum, and I wouldn't have been able to go any further without the assistance. Thanks Adam & Kenneth!!
Yes we did get the Levoc to fit onto the rod and function properly. We didn't use the spring, but did use the two cylinder's supplied. The top button on the Levoc goes down a little bit and then makes contact with the rod to allow sliding from gear to gear. Feels really good in it's action even though there is not a spring to graduate pressure. I did run into a minor problem when test driving the car later after completion. The ignition key will not come out when the gear selector is placed in park. I'm guessing that the rod is not coming up all the way to release the mechanism that allows the key to come out of the ignition. I'll be taking it apart once more to investigate this anomoly....ehhhehehehh
It's really great to see how so many people have come out to help me....there are good people out there willing to help out....Adam...Alex...Kenneth...and all the other members that have responded.
Also this is a perfect example to demonstrate how professional and supportive Alex Jovicic is of Southwest Autoworks.
Thanks
