KYB GR2 with Maxspeeds

What do you think about this combo... i'm short of cash.. so i'm lookin' for a cheap way to lower my car.. but gives my car the most comfortable ride.... i'm looking into the GR2.. which are replacements of stocks.. and since maxspeeds don't lower much and are like stock springs... i should get both of these to make my car feel the same.. but being lowered.. does anyone out there have this combo.. i'm interested.. and i really want to get rid of the 4x4...

Thanx

I have the maxspeed spring with my stock shocks/struts. the ride is really good nice and firm compared to my GXE springs... although I was hoping for a bigger drop, I have 17's on, and my car looks like it's stock.... but at least it doesn't look like a 4X4 ...

How smooth/rough are the roads that you typically drive? The ruttier they are, the more quickly your (any) shock deteriorates. Just a thought.

roads here are mostly new... it's only bad in the old streets with small potholes.. but most roads here are paved new.... also i have 18's.. and i think gettin' the GR2 with the maxspeeds will be the cheapest and the nicest ride with a drop... especially since i have 18's on my car...

the GR2 are a stock replacement and are NOT for use with an agressive spring like the maxspeeds... if you think you are low on money now, just wait about a year when you need to replace your struts again.

I've got maxspeeds with Tok blues (i know...they suck). I didn't think they were that aggressive in lowering or stiffness. They were a little stiffer than stock, probably due to the progressive coils, but not as stiff/aggressive as the sprints i had on before.

I say try it out if you're short on cash and want to do this emergently. But you'll still be paying ~250 with shipping (assuming you pay full price). Why not just save another hundred and get AGX's? Somebody on ebay is selling them for 335 +15 shipping.

I bought the AGXs from Nick Bauer (FCP Groton in CT) for U$330 about 4 months back. I found him to be extremely professional & courteous. If you do a search with his first/last name + AGX, you should be able to find the thread containing his contact info.

I have heard that AGX's are still firm, even on the softest setting... when I do get my car lowered... I plan on getting GR2's. How long will the GR2's last with MaxSpeeds compared to the AGX's?

Can't speak about maxspeeds but I do have the GR-2 with ST springs. Over a year and still going....

As for the GR-2, per Chuck at KYB they are about 15% stiffer than stock.

Why don't you call KYB directly to talk to their tech/applications folks? I think I called them once about terms of warranty for their products through a 1-800 number id'ed off their website.
