Might get into negative equity when you trade it in. Trading in for what?

dude negative equity is better than paying for the fixes and in the mean time i'm putting more miles on it, depreciating the value even more. true, mechanical problems make it worth less then a few more miles. but it sucks to consistantly put money into a car that never gets payed off, and a $9000 car should not cost $15000 in the end just to run properly.

basically...this is it, man, my max is going to a better person (with money) who (i hope) will take care of it.
