Opinions: Ventvisors
Opinions: Ventvisors
I just ordered a set, but wanted to get an opinion from the org.
What do you guys think of these, looks wise?
My 96 Max is black with black leather, and being in south Florida, its hot. I found it too be just too damn hot to get in the car every afternoon after work and let the AC run full blast for 10 min just to get it to bareable temps. I've had ventvisors on all my cars in the past (except the Z) with awesome results. I found in my white Cutlass an average of 10-20 degree drop in interior temps with all four windows cracked using ventvisors.
The reason I'm asking you guys about the looks is, everyone I've talked too say it would look out of place. But I figured the car is black it should blend right in. Anyone have pics of them installed?

I have them installed and your right, they work great to cool down the black leather interior. I think they look good only on black cars being that they blend in and dont stick out. They also dont look right if you have chrome window trim like on a GXE or GLE. I have an SE so they look ok. Check my homepage for some pictures of them.

I'm not a big fan of them, but arrafio is right that they go good on black without chrome trim. I just think the car looks cleaner without them.
What would you rather have: the ability to roll down your windows a little bit while driving through rain. And being able to roll your windows down a little bit on a hot day while parked?
Or be worried that your car doesn't look cool to everyone else?
I had them on my car and loved them.

Personally I care only how my car looks to me, but the first line of DougsfastZ's post states "I...wanted to get an opinion from the org." Sometimes you can't decide what you like, so you ask others.

I never understood asking the majority's opinion on something as subjective as looks on a car.

If you have a sunroof also make sure the cover is closed as well. I've found my car (black leather) is much cooler if I close the roof and the cover.
And as Clee said, that sunshade makes a huge difference. Probably the biggest difference I've noticed, even more than leaving the windows cracked. And it protects your dashboard from fading.

the only thing I don't like is that after some time, they start flapping with the wind and it needs to be reglued

I sell these things online (www.auto-trim.com), and they're OK on most vehicles, especially trucks, SUV's, and vans. Most sedans can even get away with them, but the Maxima is not really one of them... unless it's black! My buddy has a 97 SE and I sold him a set for $57.00. He loves em, and they actually kind of make his car look "lower" in a nice way. I won't put them on either of my white maximas though, as I don't like the contrast. I don't even have the sunroof bubble, cause I don't like that.
They can be painted however...

They're also not as dark as the others. Don't get me wrong, it's a fine product, and I sell them when people ask for them (like I-30's... for some reason, the AutoVentshade ones don't work with it). But, on a black car, I think the dark smoke ones are the way to go.

Yes, but how is your window roll-up. Some Auto Ventshade applications are also installed inside the window track, but on 3rd gens, the windows are so snug that vent visors sometimes prevent them from closing completely. I've seen this on some Ford Explorers too.
