Question On Accord Intake on VG

I was wondering which kit I should get to fit my VG I was told it has to be a certain bend? Also does anyone have any newer pics of the Accord intake on a VG. DOes the Accord kit have to be the full CAI or can u get the short ram and it will fit? thanx i tried searching but im still little confused just wanted to clear everything up before i spent my well earned money.

Thanx

Um, an Accord intake is designed to fit on a Honda Accord. Why would you put it in your Nissan Maxima? You DO have a Maxima right? Well do you?

Maybe because its about 1/3 the price of a warpspeed or PR CAI and itll do the same job if set up correctly.

Well, a WSP CAI is $155. I had no idea what make/model Accord you're talking about, so I searched for a 98 Accord on nopionline.com. I found CAI's ranging from $138 up to $250. Go ahead and buy am Accord CAI, save $20, then bang your head against the wall when you realize it wont fit!! It's a totally different engine bay!! Wow...

good luck getting a WSP CAI...as of late their shipping out of products has been kinda off. as well as them stopping production on their CAIs for bad battery fittment(hmmmm??). so before you criticize him and tell him WSP this, WSP that, you might wanna check and see what WSP has been up to in the last few months! and just FYI the Accord CAI is from a 90-93 Accord and it costs a lot less than $138, its actually under $100. I have a 95-99 non-turbo Eclipse hybrid intake on mine...cost me $35 and as far as I can see performs just as good as any other more expensive or available(heh...) mid-pipe/filter combos!

Warpspeed does take a long time, if you can wait it's well worth the wait. But hey sometimes people just can't wait and you know what I don't blame you. My friend with the VG has an intake which he just kept on trying until it fit, he works at a parts store where they sell intake tubes and other automotive stuff and got an intake to fit, he must've tried about 10 tubes by the time he found the correct intake and I think it was for an Accord, looked pretty good.

Yeah, you are gonna want a kit from a 90-93 accord, you can get either the short ram or the cold air, they both fit.. but there are different designs of the cold air made, so make sure it looks like the one in the auction da-max posted.

That is the same one i have on my car now, all i had to do was grease up the fitting for the vacuum hose on the intake and force the vacuum hose to go on, because the one in the kit is a lil smaller than the stock max one... you will need another coupler... you can used the stock one, but i had another laying around so i used that... you can either purchase a MAF adapter or use the brass piece in the stock airbox and bend it strait. i just used the one in the air box and bent it straight.

I've been wait for a warpspeed inCAI since mid-June. They've been they've been telling me "some time next week" for the past 2 months...

But on the accord intake..the $60 ebay ones I've seen may fit, but they're 2.5" instead of 3" like WSP PR or Cattman.

not sure about the Accord kit, but for my Eclipse intake I had to buy the MAF seperately, but they have them on Ebay for $10-15 too....they usually go for $25+ on other places.

The cheapest adapters i have found are on ebay, but they come with filters... but you could always just sell the filter to a friend or something and make some of your money back...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1862970108

I didnt want to spend money on one of those so i just used the brass one that is in the stock airbox... by that i mean, there is a brass adapter in the stock airbox, but unlike the aftermarket ones where the part that the filter attaches to is flat, the stock one is curved outward so you have to bend it strait...

stock: _) (_

get it?

man you have to get either or....the intake w/o the pipe will not be as loud since te OEM resonator in the intake pipe will still be there.

BTW, you can go down to Autozone/Pep Boys and get one of those cone filters for the same price!

I didn't say it wouldn't sound nice/good...I said it won't be as LOUD, thats what you asked originally. I had that type of setup for 2 years and although its not as loud as my current setup, it does growl really nicely! the stock intake piping has a sound resonator inside which reduces the noise when accelerating...when you replace that pipe with the polished one, you lose the resonator, thus you now have a LOUDER intake!

what i did to bend the maf adapter was get some tin sheers? and snip like 2-3 slits in the maf adapter, then got some plyers and started bending the pieces strait...

the only thing that would be slightly difficult is getting to vacuum hose on... i just greased mine up and pushed like holy hell...

Hey Dummy I got my intake kit today and i was wondering if u could help me. I followed what u said with bending the copper MAF adapetr and i got it to work but iwas runnin outta time so i just stayed wity stock pipe with the pop charger for now. But i was looking at the pipe and I cant seem to understand how its gonna be conncted up. would u happen to have a picture of this so i could understand or try and explain it to me? do u use the oroginal rubber adapter the part near the engine or u use a new one? and down the other end where it connects to the MAF adapter how do u connect it? kinda confused as u can see lol

oh ya also i rain it with the pop charger it sounds pretty mean. was just wonderign tho if itll sound better when i get the polished pipe put on. id like it to me louder hehe

1) disconnect clamp on rubber coupling connecting stock intake tube to throtle body pipe.

2) disconnect hose attached to intake tube.

3) disconnect clamp on MAF end of intake tube.

4) remove intake tube.

Instalation:

Put polished pipe on, take a look at it, it should be in the same shape as the stock plastic tube. connect rubber coupling(#1) from throtle body pipe onto polished pipe. Connect rubber hose(#2) to nipple on polished pipe. Connect other end of polished tube to your MAF at location #3 using blue coupling that should have came with the accord intake kit. You may have to go to the local parts store and pick up one or two more 3" clamps.

BTW, yes it will be louder once you put the polished pipe on, cause the stock air tube has a resonator to make it quieter.

let me know if you have any other questions.

I just did up my hybrid intake setup over my old popcharger and its amazing. The polished piping made it much louder and crisp sounding and because the restrictions of the resonator in the stock piping was not there i noticed much better throttle response. Boy was it ghetto rigged though but hell it sounds beautiful and the power feels better than just a pop charger because i dont get the hiccup effect when i hit high rpms. How me and my boy installed it was i took the stock hose and the vaccum hose and did a ghetto type splice job in order to get it to fit. I didnt try greasing it up but thats ok im going to get some engine dressups eventually to replace this tubing anyways. Then i took the fitting off the filter that came with the kit and used that on the bottom and used the other rubber fitting at the top. Then i used stock clamps i had and even some duct tape to secure and make sure theres not any leaks. Not the most clean install although im confident in no leakage

When i have some time ill get rid of the duct tape and use something to make it look cleaner of an install. But for now it works and i'm a proud new member of the 3rd gen hybrid intake club. Just my 2 cents. If i can borrow my sisters digicam i may post some pics soon.

ok the rubber adapter #1 i use the black one thats already on the throttle body correct? oh ya and the end where u connect to the MAF adpater the blue plastic coupling that came in the box looks like a reducing one did u use this one, it wont seem itll work? oh ya and hte nipple o nthe pipe for the hose isnt lined up with the stock hose and the hose is like a strong plastic so i cant bend it. should i just take this off and use the bendable one that came included i nthe box?

thanx

You mean you are snipping the plastic pieces next to the bolt holes on the adapter, arent they made of plastic, and if so, wont they break and snap off? Let me know
