I had an '85 Z28 once and it came stock with Cooper Cobras. Not too bad of a tire at all, the car hooked up well and wasn't too bad in corners either. I thought they were average priced. I believe it had 16s and 2 rears cost $130 each. Why Cooper though, have you thought about different brands?...(Nitto or something)

If you want a good look at a Cooper tire, look on the side of the highway....they're the ones shredded up from blow outs.

I second that. I had Copper Cobras on a 84 300ZX I owned long time ago. One night I was accelerating to ~100mph and one of the rear tires blew up. The strangest part is that only the outter ply(s) blew up but not the inner ply(s). So the tire was holding air but was totally out of round. The plys are not bonded very well in my opinion. Granted they were H-rated but should sustain at least 100mph. Fortunately I did not lose control of the car and managed to drive to a gas station to inspect the tire. I drove 70 miles with the spare to get home and got some new tires (not Cooper obviously) the next day.

OH.. I have too... My philosophy is you can push the limit on your tires as many times as you want, but just one time that went bad is enough.
