looking for homelink visor for my max

Does anyone know where I can get one of those homeling visors that come standard on most loaded max's?

i feel i got lucky and got one that matched at my local junkyard. thats the first place i would attempt to look. i can tell you you can get it a the dealer but the price is out of this world...approx $275.

another route i would take is to see if someone on the board that has this option and doesnt use it would be willing to trade your lighted visor for their homelink and compensation.

the thing that stinks about sunvisors is that junkyards dont normally inventory these parts...so you have to physically look through the car to see if its equipped and still in there.

like i said i think i got real lucky and found one to match on the first maxima i looked in at the junkyard. also didnt have to pay for it...the clerk just told me to take it since i took it out instead of him. but he was quoting me only $10...so if you can find one in a junkyard...its a goldmine. i was making an educated guess and went for the gold 97-99 GLE since i have tan interior and the GLE is most likely to have the homelink equipped.

sorry this is long...but i hope it helps you out.

If I put a Homelink visor in my '96 would the Homelink feature work? Would I just have to run power wires?
Thanks,

depends, do u have lighted vanity mirrors? If you do then i belive it is as simple as plug and play but if you are like me 96 gxe and dont have jack ish in terms of options then u have to splice wires.

If you now have lighted vanity mirrors then it's a direct plug 'n play.

Luckily, I do. So is there just a connection I have to plug the new visor into, or is it integrated into the old visor, or do I tap into wires?
Thanks,

When I say "plug 'n play", that's what I mean Vyrus!! Pop of the cap you see where the visor arm meets the headliner/roof, undo 2 Phillips screws under the cap, (pull the visor down slowly) unplug the connection plug and installation is the reverse.

If you are talking about the little garage door open thing, i will sell you mine off my max if its easy to move. ill never use it. Might as well let someone who nexts it buy it. That is if its not too much trouble to remove.

Well what color is your interior? You would have to swap the whole visor with me (ship them to each other).

FYI....If you have a garage door opener with "rolling code" security, you will need a late '97 or later HomeLink unit. The earlier units like mine won't work with rolling code security. My 97 was built in late 96.

If anyone on here would like to swap theres with just a regular lighted vanity mirror I would really appriciate it. I would pay extra for it also. I have black dash interior with dark grey cloth interior. If anyone is interested let me know. Thanks

Would you be willing to trade? Apparently it's not hard to take off and I will pay your shipping charges + $15 + my visor shipped to your door.
Thanks,

If someone is interested in a gray one PM me with an offer. I have one I would be willing to part with. Waiting on one person but haven't seen a response back yet.

this may be a dumb question, but if your visor has the homelink option, do you still have the vanity mirror on the other side? will the visor look the same as the visors in the 95-96s?

and delio, i would possibly by interested in yours. i have no idea what these things go for though. put up a post if you have any ideas.

thanks

yes its exactly the same besides the fact that there is a little pod with 3 buttons on the side that faces the interior when the visor is flipped up. and yes there are lighted vanity mirors.

Well, Requin6 is right, they are the same. They have the vanity mirror, etc. However, it's possible they are different - in one respect. The SRS warning label. For instance, the '95/'96 have a nice, unubtrusive black lettering on clear background label. '97/'99s have an ugly black and flourescent orange on a white background! Stands out like a sore thumb. Well, if you have a '95/'96, you now have to buy a '97/'99 visor obviously (as did I). So, needless to say my warning labels now don't match. Just something to keep in mind.

ptato...you are exactly right, i was noticing this the other day. my right side has clear label with black lettering and the drivers (homelink) has a white label with black lettering. the key is that everyone i have shown this to hasnt noticed the same thing...i guess i am just picky. at least it works and i am more concerned with its function than the slight difference.
