2. Any attempt to change the Altezzas' looks (exception: Hammering and burning is OK)

5. Z3-type gills... or ANY gills on fenders
6. Manual tranny shifter boot on an automatic-equipped Max
7. Oversized Tach

okay maybe ugly wheels, and eurolite strobes, but a $300 strobe kit that pulls over the old ladies who drive to slow at night on your way home??

the brakes that help you stop better? and wheels that make the car look nicer??

APPLAUS APPLAUS APPLAUS, Standing Ovation!!! Very Good, have you seen the Pep boys comercial that has Hector from the fast and the furyless talking about his APC RSX. The people he is talking to are ooing and awing all over his impressive list of mods (if you can call it that) his mod list includes APC euro tails, APC carbon fiber hood, APC euro carbon fiber mirrors, full body kit, and a sony explode stereo. I want to either laugh or throw up, and have you seen high rev tuners? I havn't seen more bad taste on TV since Jerry Springer.
To the true tuners APC, Fast and the Furious, and this new movement of nine foot spoilers, and neon exhaust tips, is like Vanilla Ice was to House of Pain and the Beastie Boys. They are absolutly horing the industry. I take offense to that and point out to every dumb a$$ that has that crap on his car what a fool he is.
One day I was going home and this base model mirage pulls up next to me thumping his bass. On the other side was his friend in the Kia with purple neon on the inside. The Kia actually squeeled his tires so I handed him his a$$ because I absolutly hate neon garbage. Then his friend in his beater mirage pulls up next to me and not exactly sure of his driving ability (especially from his choice of mods to a product that was designed for transportation, not a padgent) I wanted to get away from him so I give it a little gas. He gets behind me and turns his bass up real loud, all of a sudden neon lights inside his car, and his window washers start flashing back and fourth. At the next light his friend gives me a look like they just waisted me in the quarter mile, I guess they thought that I was wanting to compete in a glow off (why a car is used in these glowing competitions I do not know, I always thought that performance tests were better suited for automobiles, neon provides absolutly no benefit to the improvement of transportation, which is why cars were invented.) I asked them why they put all that worthless junk on a machine that was designed for transportation, hence any modification would improve transportation. They were like huh, then came, you got a problem, to which I cheerfully replied yes lets pull over. They ended up taking off, I can only hope I got through to them.

 

If its not your car dont worry about it.

Looks are subjective. I think 17's are perfect and wouldn't go bigger. I also think Jennifer Lopez is an ugly ho that has a busted grill and don't understand why everyone likes her.

And people who use strobes to pull people over are morons and a hazard to the road. I would love to see someone strobe an undercover cop.

Whats wrong with #4 if you do a skyline conversion??? And I dont see why police strobes aren't cool at car shows, like hot import nights. Also, in reference to #18, have you seen what stock brakes look like behind 19" wheels?

 

Well my fellow OKC Max I will agree with you that brakes are a purposefull upgrade. Any mod should be just that, a modification that improves the original design of the product. Cars where made for transportation so this should be the criteria for modification. Acceleration, handling, and braking should be the components that make up modifications.
Aesthetics do have a purpose but as long as their tastefull. If someone questions their own taste then they only need to look at similar styled cars that recieve praise for styling. One of my favorites is the BMW 740. It has subtle ground effects, a nice lowered stance, great wheels, red/clear tails and an overall pleasing appearance. It does not have window washer lights, altezzas, seven foot spoilers, or neon muffler tips.
A good lowered stance, nice aftermarket wheels, red/clear tails, stillen body kit, AE headlights (maximadriver.com) and possibly a CF hood. Those are about the only mods that I would do as far as exterior. Anyone have any other ideas for clean exterior mods?

Yes of course, why didn't I think of that, dam^ those late night party girls and their wicked ways, keeping me out all night friday and filling me up with various intoxicants, when I have to get up and work 2 hours after we go to bed.

Ok ok, so maybe i have a 7" indiglo tach. Actually 3 of them lined up on top of the a/c vents so it looks awesome. Gotta love my pizzurple headlights, yo!

On a serious note: Would Zaino count as a good exterior mod? It changes the appearence, hence "mods" the paint job...yes/no? How about the trusty ol' .org sticker mod good for 1.5HP at the crank?

 

I agree with the whole list,however I cant afford real hid for my car right now. and Im not gonna roll with stock cream colored headlights.

 

Totally agree with you on everyone except for number 18. Competition? You mean like road racing? How about on a SC, TC, and/or nitrous equipped Maxima? I would definitely get a big brake kit if it wasn't so darn expensive.

I was trying to explain that exact point (strobes) to a friend on mine last night.....I prefer to leave them to the cops, ambulances and fire engines....there is noplace that I need to get to that fast that I need to stobe someone

i have strobes on my car and i love to use them on the roads. i pull ppl over all the time. and yes, i have pulled a cop over b4 and he let me off with a warning. then asked where he can get some for his ride. i hooked him up and that was it.

big wheels. i think wheels smaller than 18" on any car is fugly. the bigger the wheel, the more nicer the car looks. ever see a AMG mercedes with smaller than 18" rims? why, cause it would look wack

That’s a good way to get beat down. Provided they are not a Police, EMS, or F.D., if somebody with strobes tried to pull me over I would block the street with my car and get out and personally remove the strobes from their car.

These arguments are never gonna get anywhere. But for amusement, it makes me think of what all the guys rollin showy rides are gonna roll when they're 30-40....rollin in some import w/neons and leds all over the place, mackin' on dem high school ho'z like Chester the Molester....

No knockin though, if you put your own time, money, and effort into your ride...then I at least respect it. But the kids that get everything like intakes, altezzas, bolt-on mufflers, neons, and even headlight bulbs installed by performance shops, purchased along w/the car off mom & dad's money....how "unique" and "custom" is a car that you didn't even have much if anything to do with?
