Who else gets around 30 mpg??

I KNOW this has been discussed before but I was wondering who here gets the highest MPG. I have been driving to work lately.... no A/C and the highest I got was 31 mpg. i was like . This was measured based on filling the tank until the gas pump stops and then filling about 25 cents more. I got about 450 miles on 15 gallons... the time where I got 31 mpg, I cant remember my miles to gas ratio...but this means on a full tank I am getting 500 plus miles??? most of miles are highway but I do drive through NYC traffic....96 maxima with 122000 miles....-Ross

what mods have u done? intake? If none, that helps w/ ure gas mileage. I drive about 300-350 on a full tank. 95% of my driving is highway. I think it's pretty good... but the premium gas is startin to eat away my pocket money

Yeah my gas mileage is horrible, I step on it every once in a while and always have the AC on full blast (I live in AZ) I'm lucky to get 300 miles per tank, not sure what that is MPG.

whats my secret eh? I didn't know i was THAT lucky...well I have a pop-charger with the resonator taken out, I haven't done anything service wise (plugs, clean the filter, fuel filter) in about 40,000 miles, uh... mandrel bent y-pipe with a hole between the b-pipe and the muffler (both of which is stock). other than that....I don't do much. suspension doesn't help mileage at all....I can't really think what else...I do put in fuel tank cleaners on a semi regular basis. I can't think of anything else I could have done.

How are you all measuring mileage? I haven't measured the gas mileage in my Max yet (I bought it to waste gas ).

With other cars, though, I usually fill the tank w/o topping it off. When low on gas, I fill it again w/o topping off. I record the number of miles since last fill up, and how many gallons I put in (read from the pump). I try to use the same pump every time.

I've found that's the most accurate way to get gas mileage readings. I've seen too many people guessing based on the capacity of their tank, and that inaccurate needle. Their measurements ended up being way off!

i do alot of city driving during the week and i average 350 miles per tank, on the highway i average 450 and i still have a little less than i quarter tank of gas left. i have a 96 gxe with a pop charger, everything else is factory. oh...i still have to replace one of my o2 sensors so my gas milage should improve...i think.

If you're getting 350 city and 450 hwy, then your O2 sensors are fine.

Most people here never hit 300 a tank, much less 450!!

I do almost all highway driving and get about 375 miles before the orange light comes on...I guess if I ran it dry, (18.5 gallons?) I could get 420 or so, and thats with a recent 60k service.

I dont know, maybe some of you guys drive downhill the whole time to get 500 miles on a tank

hmm I measure it the way Sryth (spelling) measures his up there, but based on a 17 gallon tank which I belive our cars have, and my way of measuring mpg, I should be able to go around 520 miles when my car actually should die out from lack of combustibles. Driving around locally i would normally get around 350, but when I drive to nyc and back I get that whopping 30-31 mpg. I am happy maybe I'll get more after I tune up vehicle ?

same here..

I mostly drive on Belt parkway, Cross Island expressway and LIE.. about 90 miles each way from Staten island to Stonybrook, Long Island. I can usually make the round trip twice on a full tank.. that's 360 miles... however, if anyone knows those roads and how they are in the mourning traffic, as well as around 5 PM.. then they'd tell you that you're basically moving at 15 mph in the areas those roads intersect...

still though.. pretty good to me.

97 SE 5 speed with 118k miles

around the city i get like 250 miles

Some of you guys that get high Gas mileage must have a pretty light foot. And steady too.. But my foot is really heavy most of the time so i get bad mileage. As soon as it goes into first my foot is pressed on the gas pretty hard.. Second, third, fourth and fifth also .

Hmm.... i'm averaging around 22-24 mpg here. I have a totally stock 5sp.

What i am wondering about though is how the ppl who reported having 30+ mpg can possibly do that. I mean looking at the specs from the factory, aren't our Max's supposed to do 22 City, 27 Highway? Those numbers (i assume) are from when the engine is brand new. Is it possible that the engine can get MORE efficient as it gets older? I mean it goes against common sense to think that mechnical parts work better as they get older.

Anybody know what those numbers from the factory are based upon?

It's probably due to inaccurate measurement.

I've heard of Maxima's getting faster as the miles tick by, so I guess anything's possible.

gas milage

Man i guess I am real lucky then. On a full tank of 92/93 octane I average at least 400, but usually like 450 with no mods, and that includes about 50 percent city driving. I just drove about 1400 miles this weekend and averaged about 450 a tank with ac on while doin 90. lata
