From "searching", simple green seems to be the best way to clean my dirty bay. One more thing tho, whats a good way to finish up the clean engine? Is there like a engine shine, or some compound or finish spray to top it off?

also, does walmart carry simple green automotive use?

 

Probably. Everyone carries it basically. I've seen it in most of the auto parts stores, kmart, wal-mart, target, etc.

 

There is this stuff to spray on the engine bay, I cant remember what its called. But It should be at any auto store also. You spray it all over the black parts in the engine and it keeps it shinning with a glossy look. Sprayed it on my engine 2 weeks ago and its still shinning.

 

You can use a metal polish, it will make it look a little better but not much. You can find the stuff with the polish an wax.

 

HEy hows it going I know this is going to sound wierd but what you do is right after you have just been driving your car for a while and it's nice and hot you take homo milk mix it 50/50 with water spray it on your entire engine (alot on hoses) and let it sit over night, when you wake up in the mornig presto shiny engine bay.

Homo Milk
do you really have to ask?

 

3.25% milk
2% is regular
they call it homo milk in Canada not sure abt USA.

 

Actually, its "homogenized". Nobody really calls it "homo" for short do they? ...and it is regular milk in the States. Then we have 2%, and fat free.

 

I assumed he meant homogenized, it just struck me as a queer (no pun intended) abbreviation.

Anywho, I was at walmart looking for simple green... found it but then realized that i was short a dollar and i didn't wanna swipe my ATM so i bought... Orange something. i dunno it looks the same thing, except orange. They were in the same category, oh well i'll try that out.

i did the same thing about a month or two ago. only i cleaned and polished my engine too. if you want you car to look shinny ALL the time then you have to clear coat it. go to autozone and pick a can up. it is in a spraycan, and make sure it is high temp though. the can i have reads as follows:

Engine Enamel with ceramic

500 degree's dyno heat tested.

get this stuff and your engine will look like this all the time. here is a pic of my car.

isnt orange cleaner the stuff you use to clean your hands after you do an oil change? who knows, maybe itll work!

 

Nah... You're thinking of Fast Orange. It's a hand cleaner, where Orange Clean is a spray-on general purpose cleaner.

About Simple Green..
hardware stores as well as the regular K-mart, walmart etc.. places should have it..
We use this stuff at work in the kitchen, it cuts through serious grease like butter seriously, very concentrated stuff..
I haven't tried it on my engine bay yet, but i want to..
also, you should dilute it with water prior to using it flat out.. i think that would be better knowing how strong this **** is. put it in a spray bottle and dilute it with like 70% water.. so the color is kind of regular green instead of full/dark green as it comes when you buy it. Spray it on, let it sit for two minutes and wipe it off with a cloth.. should work like magic

 

Definately use diluted SimpleGreen on the painted parts, maybe full-strength on the really greasy areas of the engine. Or the better-smelling Orange Cleaner - same principle.
Then - - follow this with an entire spray-down (another spray bottle) of the carwash with wax stuff, TurtleWax? Reason is that you want to get a proper car protectectant back on the painted surfaces. Worked great for me and lasted a long time.

But, gotta give that moo-juice trick a try...
