help me with my checklist (axles and CJ joints)

I'm going to be working on the CV joints and axles soon and I want to get a list of things I need. I'm buying axles from Maxima_Van_WA, and they are on the way. I'm gonna need a 17mm wrench and socket for the ball joint, 12mm socket, 36mm socket (axle nuts), inner and outer boots for both sides, grease to lube the boots and bearings, and tranny fluid. Of course I'll need the obvious stuff like the floor jack and jack stands, but can you guys just name anything else I just left out or tips that weren't included in the faq's. I can see the boots are torn on both sides, so basically I'm just going to go in and see how the bearings are holding up, I should have all weekend to do it.

Les--

If you are buying the axle half assemblies that include the CV joints and dust boots, the joints should already be lubed and protected by the dust boots.

I didn't see left and right transmission seals on your list.

Thanks, I had forgotten the tranny seals. I just assumed I would have to buy the boots seperate and grease them myself to accompany the axles I'm getting from Van. I'm still archiving and studying everything here.

You could consider replacing the front brake pads while you're at it if they were near the end of their life.

You will also need a hammer and a piece of 2x4 to knock the outer joint out of the hub. They are usually in there pretty good. You could also apply penatrating lubricant. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at Ray Brandt Answer Guys
