New CV axles

Hey guys, just want to touch base with anyone who had previous issue with new CV axles. I was replacing both axles since my originals are old, so I got brand new, not reman, and the car is both off the ground, so when I put it in with both in with no issues, til I noticed when I rotate the axle on the passenger side, the driver side is not moving, then when I do vice versa, with the driver side the passenger side is not moving, which is odd. SO I started up the car and threw the car in D and the driver side is moving, but not the passenger, is this Normal or am I missing something, since I know both axle are in the spline and lined up. Anyone could shed some light on this?:

It's fine. That's just the open differential. If you put resistance on the drivers side wheel you'll see the passenger side turn.

If you did something wrong or an axle was bad (enough to cause this) it would be obvious when you started it and put it in drive.
