I"m using them....

I read on 240sx.org that they used them. If you goto autozone its part # FF651, its like twice as big as ours. So it should last longer, mine is a PITA to get to so I opted for the bigger Z32 fuel filter.

I am running the 300ZX filter as well

When I did my filter change, I put 1 piece of new fuel line in since the last section was kind of chopped up from me trying to get it off(I got impatient and just sliced it off). Anyway I sprayed a tad of WD-40 on the prongs of the filter so removing it the next time would not be quite as hard.

I really can't see the benefit of a 300z fuel filter. The fuel still is pumped atthe same rate to the engine so there is no hp gain or better efficiency. So why do it?

We do it so it doesn't have to be changed as often. I don't know about the 4th gens but my fuel filter is a PITA to do. Since they are the same price I figured I might as well get a bigger one.

Well on the 3rd gens the standard one is fine, while the 4th -->

gens are a PITA to do and especially the 2nd gen Maximas such as Nismo87se's.

Since the 300z filters have more filter area, it will take x amount longer for this filter to become clogged, etc. than the smaller standard filter.....at least theoretically.

reason

The extra fuel contained in the reservoir can be an extra saftey measure. ie It could be that little bit that could make a difference it the system runs lean for a second under high boost conditions.
