97 SE 90,500 miles for 10,000...hmmm
ok, this is like the 3rd car i've posted in the past week because either some A-hole takes it from me or something happens not to my favor.
I found a black SE 97 with 90,532 miles, has just about every feature except leather and digital climate control. Its exactly what i want besides the leather but i can get this car from a private ownder for like 9,000. This is from a dealer and the value is supposed to be 10,800 so it looks kind of a good deal from a dealer. If things work my way i may have the money for it but before i make a huge mistake (patience is running thin!) i would like someone to tell me if it would be a good idea to go for this or not.
It also has a wood dash kit because the wood trim is on the air conditioner piece adn everything.

I just got my White 97 SE 5 Speed Perfect Condition, Fully Loaded Black Leather for $8000 at Lexus. It had 99,000 Miles though. Check around at your local Lexus Dealers and see where they have their used car Auctions. Cause thats where my Dad got mine. In Houston they have a auction every 2 weeks. Full Payment though. And I got my 99'TL Perfect Condition for only 15,000. If there is not one in your area, go to www.westsidelexus.com and go to their used car section. Sometiems there's Maximas

if i can talk them down to 9,000 i would be happy. or even 9,500 isn't too bad. I need more opinions...
Well....
I believe I bought an almost the same car for my girlfriend about 2 months back (San Diego). We got a Sage Mist Green Auto with everything except leather and auto climate control, a 97 SE, for $ 10400 at 72k. Not an excellent/best deal by any means, but it's a very nice car.
For your car, I would go for around US$ 9500 for the car. I bought my car, a 97 GXE with sunroof/S&C/CD player in 2001 for $9800 (Madison, Wisconsin) at 88k.
Good luck!

in this competitive car market and the unstable economy, you should be able to pick up that 97 for way under that price, i'd say mid 7's. flash a couple of G's in 20's at the sales mngr from your insurance settlement and then give him your cell number and tell him to call you whenever he wants to sell a car.
that's what i did with my 99 brand new and got it down to 18,500 from 22 and change which was invoice price. sticker was 25 and change..so don't seem anxious cause then they got you.
you can always come to Boston.. they have Max's for sale here a dime a dozen. besides there a lot of 3 year lease turn ins from 99 that they have to move, plus the new 2003's they have to move. dude, the ball is in your court 97's are just filling up space in the lots.
this kid i know just got a 95 SE fully dressed with over 100k for 3 grand, granted it has a dent in the rear quarter and a lot of paint chips on the hood and bumper, but other than that the interior is mint and so far the engine purrs like a kitten.
if i was to buy a used maxima, i'd go for a private sale, young professional looking to update to a bimmer or something nicer, someone in a financial jam looking to dump cheap, or an older person just looking for something cumfier. i'd stray away from women selling a car even if it's short money.. the oil and tune up parts are more than likely the same ones from when she drove it off the dealer lot.
i hope this newbie could help

and hp190killa!!! i'll buy your car! how many miles and is it auto or 5 speed?
Be patient!
It's a lot easier to sell than buy. I will never buy a car the first time I look at it no matter what. The best way to deal with dealerships is to really low ball them and then walk out when they say no. 80% of the time they will call you willing to meet you at least half way. When a dealer says "There is no way we can go lower than this" then they can always go lower. If they try and show you some invoice or what they paid for it, it's BS. They will never show a customer the real price the paid.
I always like buying from a private party. It does take a little longer and more effort but finding a car owner who has all the record is priceless. When buying private party pay attention to how their house, yard, other cars look. Chances are if they have a filthy house and overgrown yard they took care of their cars the same way.
Just when you think you'll never find one you will.
