worst few days of my life....looks like i may fail a class in college, two dents in one day(off topic) and now my baby got her side mangled by a hit and run moving truck.....i'll get pics up in a day or so...no estimate yet, insurance wants to see it before i take it to a shop....... just one thing, my rear passenger door got dented in pretty bad, and is actually open near the end, do you think i will have to get a new door?
ouch.. sorry to hear that man.. life sucks sometimes..
my car got hit last year in the same way, but I have yet to fix it.. then again, it only crushed a fender and did some minor paint damage on the door and cracked the shell on my mirror. everything works just fine, except it's ugly.
in your case, I'd say you would be best to get a new door.. the insurance will take care of it. maybe you can find a salvage door from a car the same color as yours, then only have them paint the outside.. this way the door frame and interior won't look out of place and will be much cheaper than a new door.
If you don't replace that door, you're going to have to have the old one bent back into shape, and it will take a while to do, and could very easily rub and bind in places around your door frame.. which is why I recommend replacing the entire door.
good luck with school and the car.. we both need it right now!

ahhh **** I feel ya man. This summer my car was parked on a street and it got sideswiped by a van that felt he had to back up the entire block and hit my car of all the cars on the street. This was in brooklyn and I was inside a wrestling show with some friends but luckily my friend was in the back seat drinking and talking to his girlfriend at the time so he jumped out and got the guy and held him for me. Turns out the guy was high as a kite and it was a company van that was leased. What a PITA it was to get them to fix it. geez. It all turned out for the best though.
Good luck, and I would definately get a new door for the reasons that brubenstein gave.

thanks guys!
thanks for the love guys, damn insurance is really slow and i don't have any idea why i shouldn't atleast take it to a shop for an estimate so i may do that tommorow. i think things may be looking up about the door. i was looking at the door a little more closely and though it looks pretty bad its not too messed up, the alighnment/fitting seems to be ok. but its gonna have to be molded back and it took a while for my friends car to get fixed (same damage) aside from the outside of the door being in bad shape the only problems are that it won't close (latch is busted, won't catch and a slight dent preventing full closure) and teh wheather stripping is pretty much trashed which is weird considering the glass didn't shatter and i can still roll the window down. actually now that i think of it their may bemore damage than i can see and since i am not a mechanic maybe teh door should be replaced. i am definitely going to look for a salvage door, but decent salvage doors are kinda hard to find... as for me, i am ok thank God (thanks for asking =-) but my poor car looks so sad i think i can actually hear her moaning in pain , or is that the weird whistling noise she now makes when i pass 30? i want to get pics up but i had a fight with the woman and its her camera so that may wait a dnother day i'll keep ya posted and thanks!
