ASP UDP Review
ASP UDP Review
Last night I had my ASP UDP installed at my friends shop. I paid $99.95 shipping included for the pulley from www.rpmoutlet.com. Then the new three belts belts and new crankshaft seal cost me $50.00. Now everything went well. It took my friend twenty minutes to do, he had to bang it in with the help of a 2x4 and hammer but it went in nicely. There is a big difference in weight and idle is not affected at all. Now about the power gain it's okay I feel it revs a bit quicker. Does the engine respond to the change of the pulley immediately or does it take time?

It'd be immediate. You should mostly feel it off the line (60ft time). It's not gonna help high end and most people say it actually slows you down on the top end.

Unfortunatley no dyno work was done to test the increase in low end. But my guess is that its even better.

Sunday Oct 13th, I'm going to the track with the northeast crew. But I've done more than just the UDP since my last run at the track, so it'll be difficult to tell what made the bigger contribution.
But I do have functioning VTCs and my Knock sensor is functioning, so the fact that the KS works properly should made a big diff on power output. A lot of people dont realize the problem with the KS, so a lot of power is lost due to the computer retarding the timing.

the UDP doesn't affect the power itself, but affects how easy it is for the engine to rev. i.e. floor it and it'll hit redline much faster than if you had the stock pulley on.
I noticed the biggest difference in 1st and 2nd gears, but also a pretty good increase in passing speeds in 3rd gear. drop into 3rd at 75, and the car just screams.

ok cool, just wanted to know what I should feel. I feel that it does rev a little faster in first but I'll try that third gear thing possibly tonight. My car is still unplugged and I should be plugging it back tonight, I hope that reseting the ECU thing works, I'll keep you guys updated.
Review UPDATE
So yesterday night I connected my battery and everything sounded the same. I pull out of my driveway and right away I notice it, it revs a lot faster on first gear especially, car feels good. Then like at 2 in the morning I went out to the Grand Central towards Long Island and I was doing 75 on fifth and then I remembered what Matt93SE told me to do which to put it in third at 75 and damn my engine screamed and it pulled like never before (I LOVE IT). For $99.95 this is a must do mod for any VE owner. The only thing is that you have to get is three new belts and a crankshaft seal and that cost me $50.00. Also I didn't use the belt guide that asp provides, I used the belt guides that Aaron92SE provides and they fit perfect, you can find these sizes when you search for *ASP*.
Re: Review UPDATE
That's pretty strange how you had to reset the ecu before it would show any difference from the udp. the udp is just a mechanical part, it's not like it's a sensor or something the ecu has to compensate for. Oh well, long as it works now right?
Becareful speeding in NY man, cops have gotten unbelievably serious with us young folk. No loud exhaust or music after dark, lots of cops out on bikes to catch speeders, LOTS of cops walking through red lights to check for seatbelts, fines doubled beyond belief. The udp is fun and all, but it's not worth losing your licence over or an extra $100.

yeah I hear you bro, but what do you call it I do in that straight away by st. john's university and that's it. Yeah losing my license not worth it but I only do it there. You are completely right, I'm just testing the pulley out and there was no traffic. I understand about the mechnical thing but reseting the ECU did work, very weird, who cares it works.
