Synthetic oil change interval ?

For those of you who use synthetic motor oil: At what mileage do you change it? Do you change only the filter and top off? If so, when?
I started using synthetic at my last oil change and it's just now starting to develope a darker color after 6K miles. I'll be changing this weekend and am just curious ast to what everyone else does.
