I have a 1997 Maxima base model. I'm not sure what size my wheels are. I have these gay looking hubcaps which have a lot of wholes for the design. I'm thinking about buying 4th Gen SE Rims(the * shaped ones) with tires. Does it matter what size i buy as long as i buy the tires with it? Or do i have to buy the size my car came with? Do i HAVE to buy tires with the rims? If not what would be the consequences? PLEASE READ MY OTHER POST ABOUT PAINT JOB!!! I have some interesting info about CHEAP Maxima parts and i was wondering about it.

I'm sure you've got 15x6 rim size right now. You can get either 16-17" rims or 18" and over. It's a matter of taste. I recently got 16" SE rims with 225/50-16 Dunlop tires. Very satisfied with them.

the saw blade looking rims are 15x6 , i have these with 215/60/15 on them. That is a basic rim and tire size for the max. The newer 97-99 maxima SE comes with the 5 spoke 16x6 rim. I say buy the 5 spoke rim, it looks alot more practical on the Max IMHO. You can buy any size rim from 15" to a 18". The bigger the rim the less tire you will be riding on, ususally applies to 17's and 18's, they use 35-45 series tires wich are very low pro. You dont have to use the same size tire your max cam with so its up to you what you wanna do. If your looking for just a nissan wheel go with the 5 spoke 16" SE rims.

On 17" wheels, the best tire size is 235/45/17's, although 225/45/17's will work and your speedo will be off very little. For 18" rims, 235/40/18's. For 19" rims, 245/35/19's. For 20" rims, I have no idea!

Putting 17s on a Max

Sure you can put 17s on your car, i did

as for getting the right tire size, use these links below to calculate what tire size you'll need for the size rim you end up getting (16 or 17). You enter the values of what you have now and compare it to what you'd like to have.

If you can find a good deal on rims and tires from a 97 or newer SE model it will work. I did it to my 95 GLE until I bent a rim then I upgraded to 17X7 with 235/45/17 because finding another SE rim by itself would have been difficult and the dealer...phauck that price. The 17X7/235 size combo looks just fine and have been happy with it ever since.

THANKS A LOT ALL FOR REPLYING!

I appreciated your infos. But i have another question about the rims. I'm wondering how much would used 4th Gen SE rims 5 spoke with tires cost approximately?

And also I saw an Ebay post of this company http://www.rimscoast2coast.com or something selling REPLICA factory SE rims for $450. I was wondering if its safe to buy them? What would the difference be between the REPLICA and factory rims?

My maxima's color is a bage color right now which i really do not like. I was wondering if anybody knew how much it costs to do a complete paint job on it for a Super Black (shiny black?) color

I want to get a spoiler for my Maxima, one similar to the Maxima SE factory spoiler. Anybody know how much that would cost around? I also saw a post on Ebay selling a REPLICA factory spoiler for $79 , is that safe to buy? whats the difference between that spoiler and a factory SE one? Should i just forget both and get a spoiler from a different company that looks similar to the SE spoiler?

Sorry for all the questions but please help!

Get the Ebay wing. That is what I have and it is a better unit than the factory wing. Painting and installation was $140 for me.

You mean the REPLICA of the factory wing right? somebody told me not to go with replica wing, but replica rims are ok. Any opinion on that?

The replica wing is better than the factory wing because the replica doesn't have the metal plates that rust-out like the factory wings have. Also, I've seen factory wings on Maximas that sag after a few years... not very sporty.
