1995 maxima intake,PLEASE READ

I WENT TO THE RUTGERS MAXIMA MEET THE OTHER DAY, AND I SAW A LOT OF THE CONE FILTER INTAKES, THEY SOUNDED PRETTY SWEET. I HAVE WANTED THE PLACE RACING COLD AIR INTAKE FOR A WHILE, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE KNOWONE HAS IT. ITS LIKE EVERYONE HAS A MIDPIPE WITH A CONE FILTER. SO IN ALL HONESTY, WHAT DO YOU THINK I WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITH.

alot of people buy the whole cold air intake system and just neglect the lower portion of it because they dont want to drill the hole. If your gonna go that route, get a frankencar, 120 shipped under the GD, just installed one yesterday onto a friends maxima - its GREAT!!!!!!!!

I love my CAI! I wouldn't trade it for any other intake (except a V2/TO4 )

BTW - hit that caps key one time!

I lack cutting skills, but great with duct tape

I saw the CAI on Rba's car, and it sounds real nice on his car, never heard it on a 4th gen. My cone filter is more than enough to make the sound I need.
Will a CAI give me more power, or does it just look pretty and make lots of noise ?

my place racing CAI added some power to my car, it was actually pretty noticable as well. you gain low end and some mid range, but top end hurts, but i think the other gains are worth the top end loss. but if you are younger like me or just short on cash i would get just like a jwt pop charger, the difference between that and a CAI is there, but if your straped for cash i dont think its worth another 130 dollors. if you have some money get the CAI or make a hybrid

My fault, if my hood shocks weren't shot my hood would have been up and you'd have noticed my PR CAI. I love it. I used just the upper half when it god real cold last winter and I didnt notice much difference. Mainly in sound.

Hmm... I was under the impression that you didn't actually "lose" top-end, but that it didn't improve. It would seem to me that you would gain across the board (more in some areas, depending on the type of intake), as your power gains come from eliminating the restrictions of the stock intake.

I'll have to look into that.

For me, went from PR CAI, to Hybrid with JWT popcharger. I did not like the fact that the filter gets extremely filthy in short order with the CAI and also the top end loss. Have been very satisfied with the hybrid and would definitely recommend it.

Cone air filter, but no intake?

I was thinking to do a $20 autozone HAI cone air filter. But the real question is

"how do I get rid of the stupid black plastic stock air intake (NOT the air box) that takes up so much space under the hood?"

Do I just pull the whole thing out or do I need to replace it with aftermarket stuff?

i wouldn't take the stock plastic out,it will help you bring in some cooler air,and if you are into keeping you engine bay clean, then that's up to you.

C.A.I.

I got a PR CAI and I love it so far. Have had it bout a month and no probs yet. It took me about a year to decide what i wanted to do. The best thing to do is ask people in your are what they think because what people forget is that the weather can affect a lot to. Also cleaning the filter can be a "B" too.
