Horrible Gas Mileage, Need Help

My 95 5 speed has been getting 300 miles to a tank of gas recently, and that is about 100 short of what I have gotten in the past. Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do?? Here's what I have thought of but hasn't seemed to work.

1. Fuel Filter- replaced a month ago
2. Spark Plugs- replaced same time (2 steps colder ZEX coppers)
3. knock sensor- replaced 2 weeks ago
4 Bad Gas- tried 3 different brands

The ECU has thrown a check engine light for a rear O2 sensor (which I am replacing soon) but I highly doubt that something like that could cause such a drop and plus this was happening before the light came on.

Here are idea's I have thought of but haven't tried to fix.

1. Fuel pump dying
2. Leaking fuel injector
3. too low of fuel pressure
4. poor Compression
5. Major engine trouble

The car isn't blowing smoke of any color so I don't think any of my seals are shot or anything like that. It also runs very well, no shaking or knocking. BTW, the car has almost 127000 miles

Does anyone have any other ideas?? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

This might seem dumb, but check your tire inflation pressures. Seems to me that you maintain your car very well so it is unlikely anything catastrophic happened under the hood which would cause your mileage to drop.

Unless you've been getting consistent poor mileage, like over 5 tanks, i would not worry about it. Winter is coming up and that wonderful oxygenated fuel will kill your mileage even some more.

If it's something as simple as that I am gonna kick myself, I'll check first thing in the morning. I have also heard that Maxima's have a problem with sticking calipers. My right front wheel is covered in brake dust, I know the Porterfields dust a lot, but it's completly covered. Anyone know an easy way to check if the caliper is sticking?? Thanks.

If you're really concerned about Gas... get a prius or Insight.

Any chance that you didn't try the air filter? That's obvious but I don't see it mentioned. The other thing is if you're stuck in city traffic like many of us, your calculation would be hurt bad. Remember, you're getting 0 mpg while stuck in traffic. If you drive in the city alot, you can get way less than the 21 mpg estimate. If you put alot of highway miles on then on highway stretches I'd say you should be getting 26 minimum and more like 28 or so, doesn't really matter what year Max.....good luck.

must be nice to get that kind of mileage LOL! I get like maybe 300 out of my gas car lol! I do local driving tho. Stupid traffic lights!

Anyhoo, useful information: have you ever used injector cleaner? Is the car hesitating at all, or sluggish? Knock Sensor, fuel filter are also possibilities.
