Many thanks should go out to Harold 'hlh0501'...

First off, he is a real pioneer, being one of the first people to convert an auto to 5spd max, and then providing a detailed writeup of the whole thing, allowing many others to follow in his footsteps... now he has ventured into designing his own turbo kit, and says he will share the design along with selling kits. This will only help all of us! We all know that the Steallin S/C, and the PFI turbo kit cost to produce are no where near the high price they sell them at. Why do they do this? There is no competition, until now that is, at least for the turbo. With another kit on the market, it should help prices decrease overall, if they want to remain competitive. Why do you think their are tons of cheap honduh turbo kits? Because everyone makes one! Hell, he's helping out the economy! I wanted to venuture into making my own S/C kit, but that's on hold do to going back to school full time, but I still plan on moving forward with it as time and $$$ permits... depending on the relative cost of building a turbo kit or buying a cheaper one... A lot of people talk about helping out here, but they always seem to turn it into a large profit for themselves (to which I find nothing wrong with, more power and $$$ to ya) but it is nice when someone comes along and not only offers but supplies real help... Thanks Harold!!!!

BTW, this post is in no way meant to knock Nigel or the hard work he went through with his turbo kit. He is not the direct owner of the kit's design, and I don't believe he makes any money off of any of the kits that are make and sold by PFI... the fact that they make a LOT of money off of them, good for them, but this added competition should drop their prices some which = good for all of us...

though he wasn't the first on most of those things.. he did make them public and allow people to know how to do them..

on the Turbo Kit you gotta give it up to Nigel though .. many doubted him and he actually came through..

Yep yep, much props to Nigel as well. What I mainly was thanking harold for was his willingness to share with the rest of us.

True, but Pfi is being stingy. Sure nigel came through with the turbo kit but really how much is he helping us. harold on the other hand has stepped up big time. Willing to show the design of his turbo kit. I mean if you have a hook up and can get it done cheaper great. But most people dont and will pay for a finished kit.

Don't forget CBR2. But yeah Harold has done alot for the Maxima community. Hopefully all goes well with his turbo kit, and if it does it would be great if he'd be willing to share the details.

i have to chime in...

Harold -

lets see, since the day I got my max you've helped me along. i can remember asking you the diff between turbo and s/c and all the dumb questions. the fact that i've known you for several years makes it that much cooler that a car genius lives right down the road (pretty much literally) from me. thanks for all the help with mods, the advice and the rides in your max. im sure they'll be more in the future.

So I need to have a boosted car to call people cheap? Give someone props for designing something on their own or for being the first (or very few to do something). Why don't you learn how to set financial goals and save money for mods instead of worrying about the cheapest place (or way) to get a mod. Regular bolt on mods for a maxima are cheap compared to most sports car. It's just funny when people constantly complain about how much mods cost followed by complaints about how companies don't support the maxima. Do you think $4g's is alot in mods? Most nice rims packages cost $2-3g's alone.

Please go back and quote the spot in this or any other post I have made where I complained that something was too expensive for me, and I wouldn't pay for it Why don't you quit whoring up my thread! Let us all roll over and take the great a$$ ramming steallin gives us on a S/C kit, rather than try and create some competition for them. All my mods are for speed, what do I need heavy a$$ $4k 18in rims when I have lightweight 16in rims? Financial goals. I'll tell you about financial goals... I'm going to college full time, and I don't have mommy or daddy paying a dime, and no student loans... i've bought two maxima's and an integra out of my own hard work, including all my mods (to which I never complained about the price) I have plans to get married, do you know what kind of cost that entails? Do you? We also have plans and savings to buy a house. Financial plans! $80k in savings, bonds, mutual funds, etc, how you like them apples... but I'm not about to waste that money on my car, it's for my future. Damn post ****** pi$$ me off! It's people like you who never take the initiative to try anything new, who just fork over the money to let someone else work on your car, some of us like to explore and create new things, HELP OUT OTHER PEOPLE WITH USEFUL INFORMATION.

If you want information on what mods you can buy, look in a magazine, for everything else, there's Maxima.org!

peww, I'm done.
